What are our thoughts here...? Are we still supposed to consider her the best gymnast ever? She basically just admitted to having a complete meltdown on the world’s (and sport’s) biggest stage. The event you train your whole life for...what you gear an entire 4 year cycle of training and competing to peak for...
Personally I think she’s done this to herself with all the GOAT talk and egging it on to a certain degree. Whether it’s just something she let herself get distracted by, or the immense amount of extra pressure she heaped on herself to live up to it, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this has happened now. And what’s worse is she basically quit on her teammates and abandoned them at the most important time instead of persevering and fighting through it for better or worse.
I just can’t believe the free pass she is getting from the media and pundits or whoever. Can you imagine if Giannis bailed out in game 6 when he had free throws to clinch it because he “couldn’t handle it”...like wtf. But with the society we live in now this is the kind of garbage that gets celebrated and glorified. Fukk this shiit is so soft nowadays.
Extra shout out to Naomi Osaka and her patheticly feeble exit from the Olympic tourney. I have no sympathy for these spoiled entitled crybabies.

I am not trying to downplay the severity of mental health but I see it too many times. Sports people using it as a default excuse if something doesn't go their way. It's a cop out

She was off her game in the teams event and got cold feet looking ahead ....Sad but it happens. The road ahead will be a No Mas story...As the hands of stone how that feels. Horrible

You can't go from everybody calling you the GOAT (and you loving it),.... to being mentally ill. The Media will say your Brave;.... but You Just embraced your weakness and now your a Victim (so some CNN appearances will be forthright).

She let her team down big time. She may have pressure being the GOAT but this is what champions have in all sports. If she had doubts before leaving for Tokyo she should have given up her place on the team. Hopefully she will never compete again until she overcomes her “problem” if that is possible. If not then retire and do color during the next Olympics for NBC.

Respectfully disagree If you don't have mental illness or know someone close to you that suffers from it then its truly unfair to judge her.We have not even seen the dr. reports.
There is no difference between breaking an arm or leg or having something in your mind that goes off.In fact arms and legs heal the brain is an extremely complex organ.
God Bless
