-10 units there. Ouch
10 units Breschel over Sagan @ $1.55 (
SportingBet)
The last two years, Breschel has finished in the top ten in the World
Championships on hard courses. Sagan is young and has had a huge year
and is doubtful over a course of 250km. In fact, I don't think Sagan has
attempted a course as long and tough as this. To put it in short, I
can't see Sagan finishing the race and I can see Breschel finishing it
impressively.
10 units Allan Davis over Grega Bole @ $2.05 (
Centrebet)
There is no doubt in my mind that Alan Davis will make it around this
course. If he has the legs he had in the Vuelta, where he finished top
40 on the last climbing stage, he will mix it at the finish. Bole on
the otherhand I can't see making it.
8 units Matthew Goss over Edvald Boasson-Hagen @ $1.55 (TAB)
Boasson-Hagen won't contest the finish here. He'll be working for Hushovd. Goss will be one of the Australian leaders.
I heard yesterday that at the Vuelta, Cavendish couldn't keep Goss'
wheel. Goss was hammering it that much and he had to apply the brakes to
let Cavendish overtake him. Cavendish has also tipped Goss and he
knows how strong he is. Goss can climb too. Australia will try and set
it up for Goss and Davis.
7 units Andre Greipel over Mark Cavendish @ $3.10 (
SportingBet)
There is no way Cavendish will finish this race if the teams are smart.
Greipel is a better climber and with the German's having a bigger team,
they will set it up for him and Martens. Cavendish only has two guys
to help him. I would expect the teams will smash the course early
dropping Cavendish. Good thing about this that I will get my money back
if both don't finish. At the moment it will either be both won't
finish or Greipel will finish ahead of him.
6 units Thor Hushovd over Tyler Farrar @ $2 (
SportingBet)
Again, this isn't a course for Farrar. If the teams make the race hard,
Farrar will be one of the few to drop. Hushovd can climb better.
6 units Nicholas Roche over Paul Martens @ $1.55 (
SportingBet)
Nicholas Roche will be Ireland's leader. That's a definite. No one is
talking about Roche. He's in top form yet his name isn't mentioned.
Martens will be working for Greipel but will be third in the pecking
order as team leader with Wegmann and Greipel ahead of him.
5 units Luis Leon Sanchez over Vincenzo Nibali @ $1.67 (
SportingBet)
Nibali will be sacrificed by the Italian's during the race. Luis Leon
Sanchez will launch an attack at one point and may end up being a decoy,
but Luis Leon has the better chance of finishing high up.
4 units Peter Velits over Michael Albasini @ $1.87 (
SportingBet)
Albasini will be working for Cancellara. Velits will be Slovakia's leader with his brother.
To win:
2 units Freire @ $8
.5 units Pozzato @ $13
1 unit Goss @ $19
1 unit Luis Leon Sanchez @ $34
.5 unit Giovanni Visconti @ $34
.5 unit Samuel Sanchez @ $41
.5 unit Allan Davis @ $41
.5 units Nicholas Roche @ $41
.3 unit Frank Schleck @ $81
.2 units Simon Gerrans @ $151
The Spanish are talking up Freire. Luis Leon Sanchez and Samuel Sanchez
will also be their guys. It wouldn't surprise me to see one of these
three win.
Giovanni Visconti will be Italy's backup plan with Pozzato the leader.
Visconti will attack on one of the final laps, but if there are a couple
riders from the big nations with him, that will be the winning move.
Allan Davis is in top form as is Matthew Goss. Simon Gerrans is a nice
outside price. Nicholas Roche could easily win here and Schleck could
very well win as this course is made for him.
Freire is also the leader and is looking to collect a fourth rainbow jersey.
History has been made these world championships.
First Australian to win an under 23 mens road race in Michael Matthews
Taylor Phinney is the first person to come top three in both the time trial and road race.
Taylor Phinney is the first American to podium in the under 23 road race.
Fabian Cancellara has claimed four time trial rainbow jerseys.
Why not Freire getting win number 4?
