OK, I have a couple of mins before I head off for the day.
Port Adel pick reasons:
- Over the past 5 games these sides have played the average losing margin is 49 points, with Ess losing all 5. Two of those games have been at Telstra Dome (60 & 40);
- Port have only travelled twice this year to date, with 4 game been played at AMMI Stadium;
- Ess has already used 30 players this year, with a good chance they are debuting 3 more this week. Port has used 25, only the Bulldogs have used less (24), thus the lose of Chad Cornes wont unsettle side as much as people might think...he is a lose however;
- They have a massive advantage in the Ruck, with 86 more hitouts to date, thats and average of 12 more per game, and they have greater midfield experience and talent than Ess;
- Port have got some better than average 'small' forwards which I believe the Bombers are having trouble with at the moment in Motlop, Ebert & the Burgoyne brothers;
- Essendon's average losing margin this year is 59.50 points, only Melb has a greater losing margin of 60.30 points;
- Mathew Knights cannot coach, or should I say, 'at AFL level', he had many issues coaching Port Adel in the SANFL, thus I will fade him as the honeymoon period is over; and
- one final note is that the pace of Ess with play into Port's hands, thus providing a confortable win which Port will def need heading into the All-Star break, their goal at the moment is to get above that 50% mark. Margin 50+ for Port.
