Aussie Cadel Evans has become the odds on favourite to Win the Tour, after claiming the Yellow jersey for the first time ever in his career. The last Australian to have worn that Yellow jersey was Robbie McEwen back in 2004.
However, the books have gone beserk for the man from DownUnder. He has become a "sure thing" with the bookies, who now have him at $1.70 (TAB $1.60) favourite to Win it all! It's interesting, because until the 9th stage, there had not been a single dollar backing Evans. But after claiming the much coveted Yellow jersey, money has been pouring in, the bookies said! Not massive ammounts, just a steady flow of little money with a $2500 leading the money race! Over the years, as far as wagering goes, the punters haven't shown much interest on The Tour, but that changed yesterday after the 10th stage. I am not touching it myself, but good luck to all who choose to be taken for a ride by Evans, Valverde, Schleck and the rest of the Tour contenders ....
