Davenz we can barely afford to pay our NBL players let alone the imports. If the season doesn't go ahead then they are better off playing in the European or Asian leagues that can pay more and have quality opposition.
Oh and in case anyone missed it legendary Frank Farina is now coaching................ Papua New Guinea

I think in soccer we'll always be a 'dumping ground' or pretty much just a sub international standard league. technically we are no where near the best countries and our golden era of Lucas Neill, Kewell, Emerton and even Cahill will be a memory in five years.
I don't think you can call Bogut or Mills scrubs though! Both playing in the undisputed premier league of their sport (the most played sport in the world i think i read somewhere not long ago)
Funny you say Sydney are in heavy talks(though im sure most clubs are paying the possibility due diligence) - over in Perth we are hearing Wildcats or 36ers are the front runners, the Perth link coming from playing under Beveridge and with a couple of guys in the sqd from youth tournaments. Would be incredible to see.

Not sure who is leading the chase for Bogut. I'm not sure what the NBL does with salary caps but surely Bogut, just his insurance, would take almost all of it.

I heard that the insurance isnt as high as what they thought for bogut...
Agreed that most players would go to Europe, but how many spots are open in Europe?
If i was an NBA player with no need to worry about money....Aus would definitly be attractive for me. Mostly lifestyle and just a chance to keep fit and play mainly for fun....but mainly the lifestyle....
