Okay guys, let's put our brain together here and pick some winners. Considering the four teams which are over-matched in each group (Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and Ireland), I've got the final two pools down to this:
Pool A - Pakistan, NZ, SA, England
Pool B - West Indies, Australia, India, Sri Lanka
----------------------
I'm looking for a team to make the Final and I will also play them to win it. I was fancying the Windies at $15.00 to Win and to make the Final, but then I did the pool math and saw they who they would be matched up against. Not liking that.
So now I am back to my original lean of Pakistan. NZ and England are very beatable and that would set up a semi-final versus South Africa. If they win, Pakistan make the Final and I WIN MY BET. If they do not win, I will have hedged a bit on South Africa to be Pakistan and not be out so much.
What do you guys think?
I am liking Pakistan, based on the Super Eights pooling, to make the Final.
All thoughts welcome!

after the way Pakistan played in australia? after the way they continue to push the meaning of farce to a new level? are they going to wear greyhound muzzles so they dont succumb to biting the ball?
i'd be keen to get on bangladesh to make the second round.
india would be my bet. they have 50+ players who have had the format hammered into them over last few weeks. their bowling isn't great but batting is awesome.
the wickets will be better for the australian fast bowlers but i reckon lee, johnson and tait will get belted for plenty o maximums.
sris are a way better bet than pakistan for mine.

I wouldn't touch Pakistan with a barge pole. This team is a complete mess at the moment.
Forget West Indies, they don't have the quality in the bowlers to get it done. They rely on all rounders and history suggests these kind of teams don't succeed in a knock out format (see Sth Africa in past WC's)
Australia, Sri Lanka or India. Like I saifd above Lankans are probably the best value, they have already proven themselves in the West Indies in the 2007 WC by making the final and have one of the better balanced sides in this format.

Pakistan still have a ton of talent, even though Gul, the best wicket-taker in T20, will be out with self-deemed injury. They have players who can smash the stuffings out of the ball up and down the order and have decent bowling as well. Not playing at all in the IPL allowed them to train and focus together and come out with one goal in mind.....this World Cup.
Also, Pakistan being in Pool A with England, New Zealand, and South Africa is a HUGE DRAW. I can;t see England or NZ beating them. So it comes down to a 1v1 with South Africa.
Sri Lanka might be going on better at the moment, but they are laced in with Australia and India! Even the Windies, if they get hot on the bat, could push the Sri Lankas out easy.
The major draw in betting the Pakistanis is they are dripping with talent, hungry as hell after being shamed and left out of the IPL, and have had a ton of time to train and be focused. Yeah, they are currently a disgrace to the sport, but that means nothing once the first ball is bowled.
Rod and binomial, how can you see the Sri Lankans getting past India? Australia is over-rated this year, methinks, but they can still defeat anyone in Pool B.
I am think value here with Pakistan.
Keep the thoughts and advice coming!

You were right, Rod. If all goes according to schedule, Sri Lanka and India will find themselves in the Super Eights Pool B with Australia and West Indies.

Pakistan plays the Windward Islands tomorrow. While this is just an exhibition and should be an easy win, we can sort of get an idea of what the Pakistanis will bring to the table.

Bangladesh get Pakistan and Australia in the opening stages. I don;t think they are getting to the Super Eights. I could be wrong, but I think they get beaten twice here.

I fully expect there to be an internal investigation by the Pakistani Cricket Board at this latest abomination.
This shit was sealed-and-dealed after 17 overs.
WHAT A FARCE AND A DISGRACE TO THE SPORT.
Good on Australia for making it happen, but don;t be a fool, MEK only took what Pakistan was delivering up, and that was a FULL LOAD OF FIXED HORSESHIT.
I am sure those in the know back in Pakistan were loading up at the 14th Over and probably ate up at the $16 Australia to Win after the 16th.
A lot of rich, happy people in Pakistan tonight. Hopefully no dead cricketers after the plane lands.
