I like playing totals in basketball but my question is why are NBL totals set so high? When was the last time you saw a game set under 185? In NBA you see plenty of games set under 185 and from what I've experienced this season, on average NBA game totals would be higher than the NBL game totals. Are we NBL gamblers getting a crap deal from the bookies?

NMP it does not matter how much higher the totals are in NBL vs NBA. What matters is how sharp the lines are. I've been watching from the sides and can say that this season the linesmakers have down a fanstastic job.
In the past - at least two to three years - they have been off by as many as 5/6 points in games and it has been easy to exploit that. It was also pretty easy to spot the low scoring teams to the high scoring teams.
I saw the thread a week or so ago where there was a low total 186.5 (if memory serves) for a Pigs game and people jumped on it. To be honest I would have done the same and certainly all stats and 'systems' that I use pointed to a game between 198-206. The under hit. The linesmakers factored in something beyond simple stats which they weren't doing in previous years.
So no. Punters are not getting a crap deal. Shop around and try understand why linesmaker set what they do then you can beat the book. Take the example above what we as punters should have done is ask why and steer clear of or as some other punters do taken the under because there was such a deviation from what should have been a high scoring game........ visa versa.

NMP I am no champion punter but what you showed me there is your edge. I don't know if one round is a good example though as I think they have been sharper in other rounds. Anyway use it to your advantage mate.
The reverse of my first example happened yesterday in the NBA. PHO v HOU. The game/opening total was set at 194.5 at Sportstab paying $1.65 but the game time total was 198.5 at other books. Acutal game total 176. I would have picked the OVER in this game and lost.

Be careful Fenerbahce, I'm playing the Over too but wouldn't advise going all in. Last two times Cairns was offered game totals in the low 180s was when they played Perth. Result was 164 and 186. Also these two teams have already met twice this year for 190 and 159. What can you make of all of this??????? Good luck to you.
