OK guys, I am think that we can sneak in a winner here on the Bulldogs -24.5 against a very tepid and flimsy Weagles side at the moment.  I would like to hear your thoughts on this, no matter whether you are playing either side or laying off.  This round is scarier than last round, which I didn't think would be possible.

So far, I have a heavy lean on the Bulldogs -24.5, but would like to hear others first.

Thank you and let's work together to get this done!

    This is from Miracle1976's thread:

    Western Bulldogs -25.5.

Don't really like playing to many POW's throughout the year but this game looks to good to pass up.

Important note - This game is only a bet if Johnson lines up for the Bulldogs.  Sorry if that can stuff a few people around, but that's gambling, and thus important factors involved in capping games can only be left up to the last minute as he is only a 50/50 chance of playing, and I need him in this side to help me win my bet.

Now for the reasons for the pick:

    - This has been West Coasts total game scores this year, 92, 57, 73, 45 & 104.  Average = 74. Of the above games the to highest scores have been at home, but the 104 last week only looks good on paper as they kicked the last 7 goals against Port who simply stopped.
    - The lowest two game totals in 57 & 45 were against stiff opposition in Adel & Syd to do know that fact...just wanted to state that I know this fact
    - This is the Bulldogs game totals this year 126,161,125, 128 & 130.  Average = 134.  The difference is a massive 60 ponts, ten goals ladies and gentleman!
    - The Bulldogs haven't ventured out of Melb yet, with 4 out their 5 games at Telstra Dome which is where this game is played
    -  The Eagles are starting to debut new players (one this week), with Ebert playing his 3rd, Kennedy coming in for his first game for the Eagles after playing 22 average games for Carlton (but in his defence Carl were bad at the time), but then again the supply won't be great from this average midfield.
    - Cross, Griffen & Cooney (along with West feeding the ball out) are now coming into their prime. They have added strength in the Ruck with Hudson, and with Seaby omitted for the Eagles just means Cox will have to do more then his usual, and with the pace of this game he might be a little puffed...
    - And one final factor, I wonder if anyone remembers how bad the Eagles are at travelling during the regular season....

I smell trap on this game mate. Staying away from it.

I see one of these Weagles will score 120 points or beat the Dogs type game. I don't agree with all of Miracles points but hey I can't defend the Weagles the way they have been playing this year.

OK, thanks guys.  Anyone else chime in on this?  Where are the others?

Does anyone know if Steve Johnson has been cleared to play?  He's a big-time player for the Bulldogs and if he is in, will be a big boost to the side.

Perhaps the Bulldogs are a little down on themselves and low on confidence, hence the shocking draw last round?
    ---

Former Geelong player Michael Lenaghan oversees the session, the playing list standing around a whiteboard that has those ratings determined earlier, one column the coaches' scores, the other the players'.

But the coaches don't agree. "The only thing we thought was that you got too down on yourself," says Campbell. "This isn't about the end result," Cameron reassures him, "it's about how you go about it."

Veteran West, who watched the Richmond game from the coach's box, has an observation about the "preparation" marks. "It's interesting there's lots of sixes and sevens there (from players)," he says. "The last month there's been more eights and nines. Did we do something different we weren't happy with?"

"It struck me on the whiteboard, the players' marks were too far down on what the coaches had. Don't play games in your mind, don't second guess what we're after. You end up dancing at shadows. If there's a problem, we'll talk to you about it."

    ---

And perhaps now their confidence takes a swing for the better this round?

    Found this on another site.

Dogs will thump WC. Have been fav's just once in their last 10 meetings, won by 51 @ Optus in 2002.
Dogs had 5 more I50's and 5 more shots v. a surprisingly good Tigers...not to mention the Richo "mark" and subsequent 12 point turnaround...With 4.10 in the first quarter the game should have been over anyway.
WC's 2 trips away have been losses by 62 @ Sydney and 72 @ Adelaide...nothing I've seen suggests that the Crows are much better than the Dogs.
Dogs have most I50's for the season...have had the most shots on goal, against the team that has had the least shots, but leaks like a seive (1.83).
    Dogs -25.5 happily.

Not sure who wrote that preview but the Bulldogs actually had five less scoring shots than the Tigers last weekend. Not sure if Brad Johnson is playing tonight or not yet. And I don't think confidence will be a problem for the Bulldogs, they are 4-1-0.

Anyway I got WCE here. Bulldogs have played their last four matches on the Telstra Dome surface, which is known as a hard surface, and teams who play back-to-back at the TD are generally poor ATS in those matches. The Bulldogs have Sydney next week and I think Western Bulldogs could go in complacent here - WCE haven't exactly been setting the house on fire. On the other side, that same WCE will be looking to continue that fourth-quarter last weekend. They beat the Bulldogs here last year by 87 points and while they mightn't win tonight, I see them giving enough of an effort to stay close.

I'm going to stay away but given the dogs will probably rack up their share of goals, its hard to see where the eagles will get theirs. GL to those playing

Thanks for the thoughts guys!  Keep 'em coming!

Johnno has been named in the side, from what i can gather, but may be a late scratch after all.

Aker is listed, but is he truly fully fit?

This could be the reasons behind a seemingly conservative line of -24.5?

Will wait further, about 30 minutes till gametime, to decide.

Cheers and keep the thoughts and updates coming!

mercurial, good thoughts.  However, I think the sickening draw last week will work in the Dogs favor as they will want to come out and erase that taste from their mouths.  Aker even publicly called for a banning of the draw.  Doesn't sound like last week's result sat well with the team so I don't think complacency will be an issue here.

Well, I am off this one......................because I slept in too late and got up seven minutes past the start time.  Don't know how it happened.  Set my alarm 25 minutes early and got up seven minutes late?  Did I fall back asleep?  What happened to those 32 minutes?  Did I sleepwalk myself back to bed?  Was I abducted by aliens?  Was I punched by Barry Hall?

    I have no idea.

But I am off this game.............

If the Dogs win in a canter..........why I oughta!!!!

    It's time HOH to

    Or should you

Alarms can be killers....it's just as hard for us to follow sports in the US when they play during the day as it's always very early in the morning Down Under.

And just to let everyone know...10 goals was the margin, sometimes figures just don't lie as was stated in my thread that the average difference in scoring between these sides is exactly 60 points!!

    $#%$@#$&@&#$@&$##&*#$^#$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still don't know how I slept in.  Alarm rang, looked at clock, 25 minutes before bounce, sat up, walked to computer, looked at PC clock, and it was 7 minutes after bounce.

    32 minutes of time lost.....somewhere.

But please, allow me to get back to my angry frustration.........
