Not liking the NBL game tonight. Hawks -5.5 against a NZ team this late in the season could smell like a disaster game. One thing is for sure, regardless who is playing on the NZ team, they always gear up towards this end of the season so no play for me. Only reason I am not backing NZ in this spot is that its their 2nd road game and Hawks have been at home for a while now. Not worth the risk.. So I will focus on the WNBL.
Bendigo Spirit @ Townsville Fire: Fire -3.5
Have to take Batkovic and the Fire girls at home. Sitting in 5th, that loss to Canberra last week could have almost ruined their chances. Spirit haven't been playing well after Xmas break. Last 2 straight to a Perth team who blew them out and a B2B Sydney Flames team. It doesn't get easier travelling to Townsville to face the Fire off a loss. Wish I could take player props because I would be all over Batkovic player points over but no books I know of offer it..

desperate times for Bendigo but a really tough spot for them to turn it around on a back to back from Townsville to Canberra given they'd have taken probably three flights to get there today.
Spirit also really battling without their first choice PG and Caps need this given they're 0-2 down in the h/h series

Great hit Jive..I got caught up with some other stuff and couldn't give enough time into capping.. Well done. Bendigo's season would have to be over I assume now?

Perverse as it sounds I'm leaning Melbourne with the points this afternoon. One thing they have provided this season is nuisance value at home, especially against good opposition.. losses to tsv and Dandenong by 2, Sydney by 9, Perth by 3 and thumping Canberra who were on a b/b like Perth today.. Lynx a pretty shallow lineup & 0-3 straight up / ats on the back end of weekend road doubles this season..
I marked the Lynx -4.5 so the +7.5 looks tempting

In front overall for the season but I think every loss I've had has involved the fcuking Boomers
Ghosts of guy Molloy getting revenge for our running battle in the media during his final season in Cairns I guess

Not over yet Jive.. You just never know in this league mate.. Next weekend will be very interesting with top 6 teams still able to fight it out for post-season..
Perth Wildcats @ NZ Breakers: NZ -2.5
Taking the Breakers at home once again. The Wildcats started off in Cairns on 16th Jan, then flew home to play this weekend vs the Taipans which took them to OT and now a 9 hour flight across to NZ to face the red hot NZ team who can get into the 4th spot with a win today.. Too much jet-lag and fatigue for Perth to handle this crazy NZ crowd and atmosphere.

Very suspicious mate.. Perth were at least within 3-4 buckets of NZ but still, 26 points in the final minute is ridiculous.
The vagaries of basketball too - in the match prior to that one the Hawks were 4 down with 29 secs left and waited until five seconds were left in the game to foul !?
