i aint buying it and never have. So i'm to believe the qb tells his guy i know the defender is basically gonna have you covered so i am going to throw the ball behind you. I believe for the most part the qb is throwing to a covered receiver and under throws it or is just hoping his guy can make a play. It's not like the term has been around for that long and i'm certain that it has not been specified play. GLuck with your plays & days.

Biscuit, no one knows how and when it started, probably by mistake on a poorly thrown ball. But the back shoulder pass has been around for at least 30 yrs, and become very popular in the last 15. While it is not a called play, when a QB sees the WR well covered, he purposely throws it to his back shoulder. Not only does that put the receivers body between the defender and the ball, but the receiver is looking back at the QB so he knows it's coming, while the DB does not. Every team practices back shoulder throws in practice.
