A spokesman for former President George H.W. Bush apologized after mistakenly issuing a statement on the death of Nelson Mandela.., the former South African president who was discharged from the hospital on Sunday.

“I just made a very stupid mistake, I’m very sorry about that. My apologies to everyone at The Washington Post,” 

“I apologize, because I know a put a lot of people into a modestly stressful position, which is never my intent for my friends in the media .. So I'm sorry about that. A massive egg on my face, I'm so sorry.”

 

No problem Mr.Bush,     at least you were man enough to quickly admit you were wrong and apologize.

How could he make such an egregious mistake ?

You have to wonder who he listens to as sources

I know Mandela wasn't doing well a while ago but I thought his road to recovery was slow but sure.

Continued improvement for Mandela.

He is an icon that should be admired.

  

Also praise to HW for  doing the honorable thing, taking personal responsibility and admitting he was wrong, something you rarely see these days, especially from politicians

I'm hearing reports it was a financial site outside of the US that  confirmed his death..or maybe he just read it on Covers.

You have the wrong George Bush here. This is Bush # 41.. his dad..but I don't fault you on that,because he was probably President before you were born..

Having said that, fmr.President G.H.W.Bush is not the only one to mistakenly announce the death of the Nelson Mandela ..although he did a least apologize for doing so..
