Liberalism...conservatism. Both rely on each other to move civilization at an even keel pace.

Without liberalism, black folk and women may not have had the right to vote until decades later.

Without conservatism, we could be heading into a society where babies would be reassigned preferred genders at birth.

Obviously both are extreme examples, but if you want to parse this into political party talks, both Dems and Repubs have sold out. The politicians that do matter (Thomas Massey, R-Ken) don't have the reach or are just not powerful enough on their own to rock the boat.
