This one is dedicated to DUFL. There are a lot of conspiracy theories flying around but in truth, the first few episodes did feature the Nanny's face and audiences were horrified. She was a chain-smoking crack addict, and often had lipstick smeared across her face a la The Joker. Producers decided it was only right to show the striped socks, so children could focus on the muppets, and imagine the Nanny to be an empathetic figure rather than the poor schizophrenic who imagined interacting with muppets she manifested on her tweaker binges.
