The last full moon of the year—will appear in the sky overnight this weekend.....This is the time when the nights are dark longest and the days are coldest..
Native American cultures named “The Full ColdMoon.” This astronomical event marks the shortest day and longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, as the Earth’s tilt brings the sun to its southernmost point.
The moonrise and moonset won’t occur this far north on the horizon again until 2043.
This weekend’s full moon officially occurs Sunday at 4:02 a.m. Eastern time. That’s when the moon will pass opposite the sun. There will, however, be plenty of hours before and after that time to look up and see the moon, assuming it’s not too cloudy in your location. While the moon reaches peak illumination early on Dec. 15, it will appear full for several days. The winter solstice will occur on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 4:21 a.m. EST....the shortest day of the year..
I witnessed the Moon here in Arizona this morning at 6:00am ..It was mesmerizing 98% full and bright with the planet Jupiter just off to the side of it..

Since we are talking about the moon .. the word lunatic comes from the Latin luna, because it was believed that people were more likely to exhibit aberrant behavior during a full moon...evidence of that nature is seen at times by some in this forum..
The Strange Case of Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, was allegedly inspired by Charles Hyde, a London man who supposedly committed a series of crimes at the time of the full moon..... Aaoooooo Werewolves of London..

Night fishing is good.. as you probably know ,,,fish need little to no light... they have more senses than just sight which they use to hunt, one of which is a type of sonar...they are able to sense movements in the water ..
Anglers who fish heavily at night pay close attention to the moon to plan their night fishing trips.
For the highest activity level in fish for night fishing, you’ll want to go during the full moon. During this moon phase, fish will be extremely active.
So, tonight ( Full Cold Supermoon) would be an excellent time to go fishing.and fill your stringer..

The Moon has much weaker gravity than Earth, due to its smaller mass, so you would weigh about one sixth (16.5%) of your weight on Earth. This is why the lunar astronauts could leap and bound so high in the air.
