from what I understand of it, it was a guy that worked for them and he signed up under a couple different alias accounts and had access to see everyone's cards (through I guessing some kind of code or software)...absolute poker didn't know what was going on.
This guy was taking thousands and thousands of dollars from people in the high limit $200-400 NL games...someone said he took $38 from one guy in a ONE sitting!!! He was calling people down with sick stuff too, once with King high.
I guess he got a little too greedy and entered the 1.2 million dollar tourny and that's when he got caught.
On the "other" site, they were saying that Mark Seif is somehow involved.
But to my knowledge Absolute poker knew nothing about this ahead of time and it wasn't thier software that was was compromised...it was b/c this guy had inside info to their codes, that's how he was able to break their software.
And to their credit, they did catch him and report it.

Are you talking about the "Potripper" video?? He can see everybody's hole cards, that's how he's cheating.

Correct. And they did nothing when the poker community were telling them what was going on, just deny, deny, deny. The only reason why they were found out was when they accidentally emailed the hand history of the tournament to the second place guy which had all the cards showing in the event. If it hadn't been for this they would probably have got away with it. Absolute are a disgrace as is the rest of the industry which takes player security so lightly.
