I'm having a hard time getting a read on most asian players I play against. They are agressive pre flop, play position well, and are more capable of a a big bluff than most. I read most people pretty well but always seem to be calling when they got the nuts and folding when I'm ahead. Anyone else have problems with this? I never know where they are at in a hand. It's gotten so bad if there are more than 3 at the table I get up. They own me.

I'm asian myself. I've played with many asians in my short career at casinos and home games. First of all, Do not bluff them! They will call you. Secondly, play ABC poker and you will get the money against them. If they make a big bet, let them have it if you don't have much invested in the pot. Play pocket pairs, flop a set, and you will easily break them. Put your ego aside and just play solid.

i know alot of asians they love to gamble and not scared to take chances and play aggressive. what i do is if in a game is if i amstrong i slow play them it works most of the time for me they are hard to read especially 1 freind of mine from the phillipines may have spelled wrong . t

Generally, Asians will chase anything even if there isn't proper odds for them to do so. Also, you can catch them bluffing, if they raise with something like AQ, AK, and they miss, they will keep betting, all the way to the river, and if you have a ;pair then you can take it down, if you end up heads up.

Every Asian I've ever played seemed to have Q9 as their favorite hand and they always seem to hit. Makes me sick - but I let them know it believe me I've said some very crude things

I agree asian players in mamy cases are agressive, The reason I think is the success of so many agressive players of asian descent on TV. Just look at guys like kido pham and john "the razor" pham just to name a few. People naturally emulate those they relate to. Ethnic similarities are a huge factor.
In truth asian players are at final tables on major tourneys on WPT and WSOP at a far higher percentage then the asian overall population in the US. That style either gets you deep in a tourney or gets you out early. Middle of the pack cashes and knockouts are less likely with that style.

best way to play against asians..or better yet anyone who will call you down, call all of your raises preflop, is a calling station.... is to play abc poker, let them think they can bluff you and be the aggressor at the table. in doing so, you can lose a small pot to them (prior to folding make it seem like a tough decision taking your time). once you let them seem in control, just play the same way when you have the nuts. check to them, let them bet, call, check to them, let them bet, check to them, let them bet, and then reraise them. some of the best grinders in la at the commerce are the asian pro's. none of these guys play one tournament. the older named pros like you see on tv playing the big games got where they are from working hard and being aggressive. asians i have experience against playing live are stubborn, like to show off, and like to win every pot even if it is for $1. i was bigblind one time and a real cocky asian kid (about 22) is in the smallblind. sitting with about $2000 behind me, he has $1200.. 8 handed no other callers. he goes all in to steal my blind. i laughed flipped over A10os, throw him my chip and said you want my $20 that bad here take it. he goes yeh thats what i thought, and showed 34os. very next rotation the same situation arose, but i had KK. he had $800 behind and i imediately called. he flipped over 59os. i won, he said how can you make that call. i told him after he packed up, how can you be that dumb. lol

Whenever I try to outplay a loose-aggressive player from the get-go, I always seem to get whacked. It's never a bad idea to play the opposite style of who is at the table. You still have to switch gears, though. I like to whack a loose-aggressive player a couple of times to take the teeth out of their play....then open up a bit against them once you get your table image established.

Personal story: I was at MGM at the JAy-Z/Beyonce concert. I gamble pretty big (in my eyes) avg. bout $500 per roll. Any way, I ran like 2k up to like 11k in about 6 hrs. I then lost 12 k back in like 40 minutes. So, I was depressed as shit!! On my way back 2 the room I it was me & an asain guy on the elevator. I was like man Im down like 10k. He just looked!! I said, what u down?? He was like $85,000. I was like ouch. I was like cash or markers he was like MARKERS. I was like double ouch!! It's all relative!!
