Busted outta the 300 tourney around 900. A whopping 1650 playing field. I actually started playing at table 143 in the Poker room, not the Event Center. I was pretty pysched about that, but ran bad and my good hands didn't hold up. Went out with the best of it KK vs 1010. Of course he had the 10 of spades and 4 spades came!!! Anyway, had a great time and the poker room and casisno were Electric! The place has been taken over by poker players!! lol Had a great time and may play an event next week.
that is all

I was there, busted out of the Saturday 2000 buyin for the main event, 1 in 5 got a seat. there were over 300 entries and the top 61 got a 10,000 seat. I placed 70th! if someone can help me out with my demise in that tournament I would appreciate it.
It was a hand right before we went on break after level 10. blinds were 1K/2K with 300 antes, I was right before the button with JJ and had 43K in front of me. I made it 17K to go pre-flop and the button pushed all in and had me covered. I thought about it for 5 minutes and eventually mucked my hand. afterwards he told me he had KK, not sure if he was trying to make me feel better, but I dont think he would risk his seat, as we had about the same starting stacks. At this point we were down to 83 players. should I have called him??
Also, just to vent.... I was down to 22K when I called an all in preflop for 14K w AK of hearts against AJ diamonds....well a jack rivered and left me w 8K, then pushed again w Ac10c and ran into KK to finiosh in 70th. and all I can think was why didnt I just muck JJ and go to break...?

83 players left that is a really tough spot. As tough as jacks are you cant muck a top 5 "made hand" pre flop unless you are put to the test, as of course you were. That being said a normal JJ raise may not be the way to go because as you know you do not need all the chips, you need to last till the top 60. That is it, nothing else period. Dont know what median and mean chip counts were which of course is a factor also. The only reason I feel you made a bad play is because you should have envisioned all possible situations that could happen after your raise. If you felt you would lay down the JJ if someone came over the top then I think raise was a bad idea. If you had a reraise all in THEN ANOTHER all in of course you muck even queens in that spot. But if one all in could get you to fold, I would have limped, which of course is normally a weak move. If you never limp, then fold. That being said you caught a tough spot later with big slick being run down before finally going out. Sounds like you are playing pretty well, good luck to you.

alwaysliquid- Takethedog is right you never muck until you at least see the flop with one of the top 15 best hands. When you have pocket jacks you always raise at least 3 times or more the big blind; but you have to mix it up don't always raise the same amount. After the flop if you only have 1 pair still;then you bet half the pot. If your opponent then comes over the top of you ; he has you beat and then you fold. Also when somebody goes all in preflop you only call him if he was in early position with AK. in the future
