Man you couldn't be more wrong. The guy knew exactly where he was in the hand.(last place) He knew Eastgate was winning 100k for the day and wouldn't risk being out kicked for his stack and he knew Greenstein had an over pair and would fold. Once eastgate called he knew he had a 2 and would have to bet large to get him off it, Greenstein calling 37k there is just fucking awful. The kid has more gamble then anybody has seen in a while and scares the hell out of even the top pros in the game. He might be broke in a couple years when the figure him out but right now he just fucking scares people. He's been killing cash games.

ok if you say so
I've played with Tom many many times....yes he is aggressive and he used that to his advantage in this hand for sure.
Eastgate played like he was down to his last buy-in and he would go broke if he lost that hand....you have to play back at players like Tom. If you ALLOW him to take advantage of you, he will.
As for Barry I have no clue as to why he played that hand this way....no clue.
"The kid has more gamble then anybody has seen in a while"
Your confusing gambling with pure aggressiveness
Now I'm not saying he is not a world class player.....trust me he is. But it's his general style and the way he plays the game that won this hand.....not any type of sick move. Alot of players (trust me) would have played back at him with Eastgates hand.
Not sure how deep into the world of high stakes online poker you are (well I am sure) but Tom has a challenge out to everyone right now.
He has a $1,000,000 challenge to play anybody heads up for 50,000 hands 4-tabling 200/400 or higher No Limit Holdem or Pot Limit Omaha. If his opponent is ahead after 50,000 hands, Tom agrees to give them $500,000 plus an additional $1,000,000. If Dwan is ahead he will get an additional $500,000.
You want to know why nobody will take him up on the offer?
A) Bankroll management. Something Tom does not have.
B) They know they could not keep up with the level of aggressiveness and "gamble" it would take to win this challenge.
EVEN WITH A $1,000,000 OVERLAY
So my point is not to try and start a fight about his level of skill, because it is great....and he IS a great player. I would never take that away from him.
The average fan of TV poker just cant understand the multi levels of skill and the backgrounds of the players and the game that blends into the playing of each hand.
To sum it all up....was it a good play? Yeap. Was it an all world play for that particular example? No, he outplayed 2 other players who just did not want to take a stand in a spot were they should have.
It was MORE bad play on Eastgate and Barry's part that GREAT play by Tom.

takes all types of poker minds, everyone can see things a little bit differently based on their own style/game/whatever.....we can agree to disagree nothing wrong with that

Ivey, Antonius and Benyamine all said they would take him up on it.
That was back in January.
Still has not happened.

I agree completely. Why is Eastgate at a cash game if he is that scared to gamble with a flopped set? He should have bought in for the minimum $100K if he was that nervous about losing. But Greenstein should have known that 1 of the 2 flopped the set with that many callers.
