It depends, if your just going to play and see what happens I would say hit up a 50NL table win $10 and then go for the 100NL and see how much you can win.
But if you plan on being there for a while you might want to stick to the sng's or play the super micros. If you like tourneys you should take that money and try to qualifiy for a big one.

if you play ring games play for no more than NL10, thats a 10 dollar buy in, you really need at least 20 buy in's in your roll to be on the safe side, so to move up to NL 25 you would need to build your roll up to about 500 bucks, if you play sit n go's and tourneys always try to have around 20 times the buy in in your roll.
Why? because you will hit bad streaks and the less percentage of your roll you can take to the table the better chance you will still be in action when the good days come back instead of being broke. But of course if you are a bad player you will eventually lose it all anyway but if you're losing it slowly you might come on to something that will make you a winner, like figuring out your biggest mistakes and eliminating them.

If you want to play SNG's, you will have more than 15 buyins. Provided that you are a winning player, this should be enough to ensure that you don't go broke. Do not move up until you can consistantly beat these games and have a reasonable bankroll for 10+1 SNG's. Again, assuming you are a winning player, you will make a profit, and your bankroll will increase, allowing you to move up to higher levels.
If you want to take the cash game route, you could get away with playing .25/.5 LHE, or maybe .05/.1 NLHE. Keep in mind that you will be slightly underrolled for these games, but if you can afford to redeposit if you go broke, this will be sufficient.
You will want 250-300+ big bets for LHE, and 15+ max buyins fr NLHE to avoid busting to variance.
Either way, it will be a relitavely long process, but you will minimize your risk of going broke.
If you are just in it for the hell of it though, by all means go nuts.

Are you trying to build a bankroll out of this?
If so, ignore most of the advice before me.
