Im actually a fairly experienced poker player. I dont play for huge stakes but I've played quite a bit over the last 3 years. Anyways..here is my question....
Say I have 98off
guy im against has QJ off
FLOP: Qd7c6c
Pot has 30 bucks in it....Im roughly a 37% chance to win this hand...I obv dont know what the other guy has, but I have straight draw plus chance at runner runner club or runner runner trips...
What amount of money does he have to bet to make my odds not worth it. I always thought since I was a 33-37% chance to win the hand, that I would only call if I was getting 3-1 odds to call...
For example if he bets 15...that makes the pot 45...and I only have to put in 15 to win the 45 (Im assuimng I dont add the 15 Im putting in), so I would be at odds..but it seems if he can put in 30..and Im only a 2-1 dog, so it would make sense (from an odds standpoint) to call a 30 dollar bet that he puts in to make the pot 60....
Can someone clear this up for me...and maybe use another scenario?? Thanks

It depends a lot more on stack sizes and how he plays so its hard to give a blanket answer
if he is very tight and deepstacked you may want to raise him now since
he would probably just fold. Or if you call him you may want to
represent the hand if a club or ace hits.
If he is unbluffable bit never folds just call-raising is pointless and
hope to hit and he bets 15 call (once again if he is very deep
this is even better because you may make 4 or 500 if an oppsuit 5 pops
off)
Also consider the fact the you may hit something like the 10 of clubs
which could give your opponet a flush and cause you to lose a lot of
money
By the way going runner runner is good if you had something here like
89 of diamonds so if you cauvght running doamonds you could win a big
pot
Here if you have 89 witht he 8 of clubs running clubs usually
wont do you much good. If it comes running clubs you really cant value
bet it as he may have a club himself. The river would probably just go
check check. Bluffing would be pointless because if he doesnt have a
club he would fold and you would win anyway and if he has a club hes
never foldiing (noone folds live)
Sorry for such a long answer but unless this is limit the answer isnt cut and dry

You should stay away from open enders when there are two suited cards on the board because it reduces your outs, especially if a few people call. Personally, I hate calling open enders heads up because those are hands where you want a few people in the pot. But my guess is if you call the flop, unless he hits a jack on the turn, you probably will get to see a free river.
