depends how many people are in the pot. If you called with 3s you should press the action on the flop hopefully a check raise or a raise. Any 2, 4, 5, j, q, k, can give somebody a possible straight so you have to find out where your opponent is at.
With QQ I would still press the action. I see alot of times players who flop sets of queens would check on the flop. Then all of a sudden they make a big bet on the turn when a "scare" card comes. Any legit player would know what they are holding. If I'm in the pot with 4 or more players I would press the action all the way hoping someone has KK, AA, AQ, KQ. In a head-up situation, I might bet the flop, check the turn(to represent AK if I raised preflop), then hoping my opponent would try to steal or let him think I'm stealing on the river.
Remember in order to win big pots, someone has to put chips in the pot. Most of the time you will have to do that yourself.

It depends on position, who raised preflop, how the villain(s) is/are playing. So many variables.
OOP with bottom set I lead into an aggro villain all day long. I bet them for value on every street versus a passive opponent.
Top set on flop #2 doesn't have a lot of value yet. I probably let the turn peel off and look to check/raise or at the very least I have to start betting for value.

you haven't given enough info, OP.

Thanks Colonel, I like the way you think. I need to start thinking more along the lines that you mentioned above. I have a tendency to try and trap more than I should and it gets me nowhere in the long run. I see where pressing the action in both is could be very beneficial. I need to think more of what I need to represent to other players rather than what I actually have.
Bodog, I know there are alot of variables that could come into play. Just couldnt possibly go through all of them. Had to simplify the scenario. You mentioned the word "value" betting in your response a few times and that is also something I need to work on.
Thanks to you both. Hopefully soon I will be playing like a shark and not a fish.

just came back from a session. A raise to 35. I call with KK. 4 callers behind me(I was telling myself that I should've reraised).
flop is k 9 4 rainbow.
raiser checks. I bet 80. Next guy raises 180. Everybody folds. Now I think he either has either AK, 99, or 44. I call hoping a 10, J, or Q don't hit(not that I'm afraid of the the straight, but my opponent might be and that might slow down the action). Turn is the 6h(possible flush draw). I check. He bets 300. Now I eliminate AK. He either has 99 or 44. So now I know he's hooked with any of those hands since he put over 600 in the pot already. I check raised him all in for 1110(810 for him to call). He calls and flips over 99.
