having 456 instead of 357 is better?
please explain... the 7 is what kills me? but the 3 is lower than 4...
I dont play this at all but I have a few times. I easily could be wrong but I believe you "start at the last card" (in this example) to "rank" your hand.
you - 23578
him - 24568
1st card , both 8's
2nd card - you 7, him 6, he wins

ya cuz its basically "lowest high card" wins
so youre lowest high is 8, so is his
next is 7, his is 6, and since all of his other cards still make a low (between 2-5) he wins

yeah first hand wins because it's an 8-low, 2nd hand is a 9 low.
A234Q loses to 6789J, I know it's wierd because we are used to playing hi only poker...

you guys are right but it's very simple
just ask yourself "what is my hand?"
in your example:
1st hand 34678 -- What is your hand? Very simple, 8-High
2nd hand 24679 -- What is your hand? Again very simple, 9-High
So in all LOWball games an 8-High beats a 9-Higher so hand 1 is a winnner.
Just also remember that in 2-7 34567 is a straight and a very bad hand. If you were to play A-5 Lowball you dont count straights and the best hand is A2345, the best hand in 2-7 being 23457

WHY DO THE LAST 6 OR 8 EXCLAMATION POINTS LOOK DIFFERENT THAN THE FIRST 15-20???
