Came to the poker room at 12 AM. Started playing 2/5 N/L. Was down 300. I didn't mind losing, but the table was so tight I couldn't take it anymore. 5/10 N/L broke earlier that night so I walked by the 10/25 N/L game which I only played once before. The table had a soft lineup. I beat up these same people in the 5/10 and 2/5 game before. So I jumped right in.
Came in for 1700(left the 2/5 game with 700 and bought in another 1000). There was one Asian kid with about 7000 in front of him. Another guy with 6000(but this guy was losing). Played my usual game and was up 2000 around 5 AM. I didn't leave. The game was that good. I got down to 4-5 handed. I got a bad beat and went on tilt. Now I'm "wide open".
All of a sudden I lost all my winnings. Next thing you know, I'm down 1000. So we kept playing 4 handed till noon(I just got home). It was me, this hungarian guy known as "ATM George", Asian Kid, and this guy from San Diego who came in to New Orleans for Jazz Fest.
The Asian kid was raising almost every hand preflop. I noticed that he ocassionally overplays his hands. So I just played my game, and I know the rest would take care of itself. At around 1130 this morning I was up 2000 again.
Then the hand came up.
SD kid(about $1000 in front) is small blind
ATM George($3000 in front is big blind
Asian kid($4000) in his usual Straddle
Me(close to $4000) on the button
I call the $50 straddle with 8 6. SB fold. BB calls. Straddle raises 100. I call. BB calls.
Flop is 9h 7h 5c
BB checks, Asian kid bets 400. I make 1200 total. BB folds. Asian kid goes all in. I look at my card to make sure I had the nuts. I call.
Turn was a 5s(hmmm)
River was Jd
I turnover my hand and he said "oh shit". He mucked his hand and the pot was a little over 8000. Unbelievable! It took me 10 minute between hands to stack the chips. Ended up winning 5500 and got the fuck outta there!

Nothing at all against Asian folks, but I've noticed they tend to be overaggressive and overplay hands, and tend to be loose/action players. Just got to wait until you have a hand, and extract all you can
good job

I'll always give you props for turning me onto this guy before he jumped ship from Pride to join the UFC.
I was blown away by his loss to Gonzaga.
Personally I don't think that he took the UFC seriously enough. he has four fights left on his contract and I hope he gets a title shot before all is said and done.
I just read today that he's building a small cage in the basement of his house to train with. Rimors are that he'll fight again in either July or August

I read his post fight interview and he was pretty hard on himself. I agree that he didn't take the fight seriously enough. I think that the difference in the rules(elbows) between organizations played a major factor. But this is the #2 HW fighter in the world that we're talking about. He'll be back.

thanks guys for the support. I hope my luck continues as I prepare for a wsop circuit event tomorrow($500 N/L). I'll be there mostly for the cash games, but I with the runs I'm having lately, I might make it to the final table.
