One of the reasons why US has a failing democracy is that a small minority can hold the majority hostage to create dysfunctional government.  But House debacle is just the tip of the iceberg.  For example in flawed electoral college, states with large populations are under represented in government while states with small populations are over represented.  Also unaccountable supreme court is too powerful in dictating policies and blocking elected government despite no justification in fact or law.

These loose cannons have been shooting their loads for months & the lack of any leadership in the GOP allowed it to happen.

Just look at Perry from PA & his role in the 1/6 insurrection.

Just look at Gaetz at his behavior throughout the year.

Just look at Bobo Boebert who is a moron & proves it every time she opens her mouth.

They don't know how or want to govern. They want to create chaos.

It's being pushed to adopt a multiparty system breaking the yeah or nay mentality.

Democrats have rejected pelosis policies not to the point of costing her a first round speaker vote...but descending from the majorities view... Seems a centrist forming as the outer fringes obscure their role in government....

But day one the republicans shit down the government.... Way too go boys batten a thousand.....

As you know the House Speaker does not have to be an elected member, and can be anybody......so we would have to be talking about a republican only but a MODERATE one.......I don't think anyone but McCarthy would ever be the serious consideration however, but:

Colin Powell and John Kasich  immediately leap to mind as respected republicans with a history of getting things done but very open-minded, although for a LOT of republicans, too many, Colin Powell would be an automatic "No!"

What republican could emerge to break the fringe element of their party and have enough democrats too cross the aisle.... Colin Powell caliber candidate.....

They planned for this inevitable consequence of getting complete insane fringe the ability to break the grand old party...

It risk management at the executive branch that plans for these specific scenarios...

Well while the president believes in intelligence and national security ....

Usually most office with a few exceptions during the last 2 centuries....

I hope McCarthy does not become Speaker. I don't think he will ATTACK like he should.

When there is a vote and ALL the democrats vote the same, that shows a complete lack of integrity and just how scared each is of the DNC.

I think the Gang of 20’s strategy is to wring as many concessions as possible out of an increasingly desperate McCarthy but never vote for him. Then if the rest of the party switches to (for example) Scalise, they will insist on those concessions in exchange for their support.
In case folks forget,Dan “ The Preacher “ Bishop is the representative from the district with the worst voter fraud scandal in recent memory–an election so tainted the results had to be thrown out, and the previous Republican candidate had to withdraw in disgrace.
