The NYT reports ActBlue, the Democrat online fundraising organization that Republican lawmakers have targeted as a money-laundering operation, faces internal chaos after the recent departures of at least seven senior officials. Further, a lawyer at the firm accused ActBlue executives of a retaliation campaign, according to the Times report Wednesday.
On Nov 3rd House Speaker Mike Johnson had said; There's evidence being gathered that apparently they're taking large checks, possibly from people in other countries or adversarial nations, and they're breaking it down into smaller dollar donations and sending it through that, almost like a money-laundering operation. That's the allegation,"
This allegation came from a group called Fair Election Fund. Their investigations last August found over 60,000 small citizen donations that appear to be fraudulant. People listed as donors were contacted and said they gave no donations.
On December 3rd a Wisconsin judge approved a subpoena requiring a prominent leftist fundraising platform to turn over certain documents in a widening fraud investigation.
Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Brad D. Schimel ordered ActBlue to hand over a limited number of records after a Republican's email identity was used to make liberal donations he did not authorize.
"Something is not right," Judge Schimel said.
House investigators are examining whether entities from Iran, Russia, Venezuela, and China may have directed funds to support Democrat campaigns in 2024 through ActBlue. And now ActBlue is "cleaning house", not a good look.
