These self-serving hypocrites are robbing us blind. Their salaries, pensions and benefits are beyond belief considering the economy, which they are to blame, and  how most Americans are surviving right now.
How does their Washington area home values rise while all of ours drop? Why are they exempt from things that are forced on us? They vote unanimously and quickly on their automatic pay raises, but can't settle the real issues and force a government shut down.
Most politicians don't stand up to the promises. Once in office, it is a don't make waves mentality in order to keep the position. They claim to rep the people but really only need "the people" to live off of.
When does their free lunches and free gas run out? Both minor to all the other perks they have crafted for themselves. Not one of them lives like we are forced to. If they did, they would enact real "change". Instead of the change we are left with after they pay themselves and many of the common-senseless thoughts they turn into mandates.
I am forced to live my life and run my business conservatively and on the up and up and SO SHOULD THEY.
It's time for the sleeping giant to wake the F up.

an elected office has basically become a lottery ticket, between salaries, pensions, benefits and opportunities if they decide to move on.  from there, you figure it's going to cost a lot of money to win that lottery ticket.  so you have to raise a lot of money to win that lottery ticket.  and you have to make it worthwhile for people to give you that money.  and so on.

Yet people still believe in ideology as if the so-called "Conservatives", "Liberals" will behave any differently once they get into office. Yes, they may have different "clients" to serve but at the end of the day, it's ONLY about money.

American Politicians and their Corporate Masters are smart enough to keep the masses fighting against one another.  The old "Divide and Conquer" routine.

Yes, indeed, it's time for the Sleeping Giant to wake the F up.

Cities will burn and people will riot akin to the 1960's.  Blacks couldn't do shiit alone, but when the Whites filled the streets in War Protest, the Politicians were shittiing their pants.

When the Divide and Conquer BS starts to slip, the proverbial Shiit will hit the Fan!

I bet there is a sect of Keynsians within the administration that would welcome riots to stimulate the economy.

Bastiat's parable of the broken window etc.

    ALL Politicians are evil...
    ALL Politicians are corrupt...

So we round up all politicians and execute them..

    Then what?

We elect a whole new bunch?

We make the new ones accountable to the American people?

Please, Please tell me anyone thinks this...

I know a politician (at the local level) in Mass. She votes on very large budgets yet the last math class she took was in the 9th grade....no business experience what so ever. A complete retard can get a poli-sci major.....
I disagree with you when you say the biggest threat to the US is a politician....it's the clueless idiot who votes for the clueless politician.

Obviously, the root of the problem is money(special interests). They aren't born evil/corrupt but our system sure train them well. Look at how much it costs to run and they have to spend half if not more of their time on fundraising(even after they are elected for NEXT election), anyone tell me how they can govern effectively without influence......

    Its funny..

So if we walk down a sidewalk in a clean, fresh outfit then have to walk through a massive streaming fountain of filth, why are we shocked that we come out the other side dirty?

Politics are dirty..it is corrupt and disgusting because of what we allow INTO the institution.

The name/face/party of the politician means nothing, why blame the politician when the institution is corrupt? Its an eventuality..we force politicians to solicit for their jobs, then we are mad when they make decisions based on the money given to them in order to keep their jobs???

I don't think all politicians are bought... but many are by lobbyists, etc.

It's called 'Integrity'... and how many politicians have it ?

The ones that have it try to do what's best for their constituents (and country) ..    The ones that advocate further spending only put this country in further peril (thank you Libs).    That ones that advocate  a lesser government put the country on a  better path to prosperity.

I have the same view but lets don't treat them as "victims" of the system or some innocent bystanders....

Yep...alot of BS & thinly veiled bribery. Not so much the institution as the system. And the public has as much to do with it as anyone. Like Carlin once said, these politicians don't just come from nowhere. The come out of American families & American universites & churches..at least the vast majority. And in their self-interest, work the system to the best of their ability. It's all BS & a show nowadays including the media (or maybe especially the media) & we're all collectively responsible to 1 degree or another....

There is a local politician here who moved up into the Federal ranks last election..campaigned on the little person angle..

Well now that this person is elected, and even before it is all about being re-elected and about corporate involvement..

As long as we make it so expensive to be in congress and force politicians to be marketing and soliciting, I dont know how we can expect special interests and corporate ownership to ever go away...
