In your opinon what do you consider "wasteful spending " and what do you consider "fraud" ?
In your opinion do you think our government is running efficiently?
You sound like you are insinuating there is no government "waste" or "fraud"?
I realize It is way more complicated than just cut waste and fraud but it has to start somewhere as we are burying ourselves. If the government wants more money from me fine but first show me what they are doing to use those tax dollars efficiently first.
I am a simple man. I'm not a republican and jumped
off the Libertarian band wagon as well. I don't have all the answers and
don't pretend to but in my opinion (and I realize we all have differing
opinions) we are a runaway freight train and it is only getting
worse.
A simple google search of "Government corruption or waste" will result in numerous outlandish examples of both
But if you want examples for starters
Our ridiculously bloated defense budget. This industry is rife with waste and corruption.
Welfare/Medicare/SS reform - People need to have more personal responsibility.
Welfare is necessary but needs limits and incentives to get off the system. SS has turned into a ponzi scheme. There are
exceptions of course as with anything.
Reign in general foreign aid. We have borrowed money from China while in return give them aid how does that make any sense? We are giving money to countries actively working against us. I am of the opinion charity begins at home. Clean up our mess first then we can assist others who are in actual need, like natural disasters or health epidemics.
Additionally we need term limits and put an end to career politicians. Currently politicians do not have the peoples best interest at heart. They are focused on getting elected, staying elected and lining pockets but will do just enough to get by. There is not one politician that does not have dirty hands.

States where welfare recipients are paid over $7 more than minimum wage. The list shows — more than double — the earnings for residents working minimum-wage jobs in some States and others are above the proposed $15 national minimum wage many Americans want? Maine, is the only State where welfare recipients are actually paid less than minimum wage. New Jersey cracks the top three states with large welfare and minimum wage gap..
Hawaii is #1 pay not to work State @ $20 an hour!
North Dakota
Total welfare benefits package: $30,681 Pre-tax wage equivalent: $28,830 Hourly wage equivalent: $13.86 State hourly minimum wage for 2017: $7.25
Nevada
Total welfare benefits package: $31,409 Pre-tax wage equivalent: $29,820 Hourly wage equivalent: $14.34 State hourly minimum wage for 2017: $7.25 ($8.25 with no health benefits)
California
Total welfare benefits package: $35,287 Pre-tax wage equivalent: $37,160 Hourly wage equivalent: $17.87 State hourly minimum wage for 2017: $10.50
Maryland
Total welfare benefits package: $35,672 Pre-tax wage equivalent: $38,160 Hourly wage equivalent: $18.35 State hourly minimum wage for 2017: $9.25

Career politicians are not the ones pulling the strings..
Remove the money, the money changers, the intermediaries for the enabling of private money/corp/dark money to manipulate politicians...that is the only solution.
The politicians come, they go...what never changes is the influence from the private sector that is polluting the government and has/will and not much else matters.

On the contrary, your opinion and mine are pretty close..I was just curious. And I agree with Wall that in order to get govt back in the hands of the people you need to get the money out of politics.

money out of politics is #1. too many people living a good life while instilling policies that affect others while at the same time being shielded from those same policies.
#2 - it is similar to a house hold budget. you have two options to have more money at the end of the month. 1) spend less or 2) earn more. is is not rocket science. what part of the equation is bringing you down? you can not have more without spending less or without bringing in more. all signs point to the issue being that spending more (i.e. entitlement programs) pales in comparison to the revenue lost by the massive tax cuts to corporations and the wealthy.

the issue is obviously way more involved than what i just presented (i.e. physiological approaches to wealth etc.) but at the end of the day it is a simple math and numbers problem. if you take from one side you need to contribute from the other or else an inequity / imbalance will by THE EXACT DEFINITION OF THE WORD occur.

Welfare programs are state regulated programs for those who live under the minimum accepted level means as determined by each state government. Welfare benefits can fall under multiple different program umbrellas, all of which require certain elements of eligibility to acquire and maintain payments. These programs are cash assistance (TANF), the child support program, child care, energy or utility assistance, food assistance, medical assistance, and vocational rehabilitation services.
This program as well as Life time Politicians will never end but you can cut Term Limits or at least try with a referendum added to the ballot as was in 1994 that if passed then would show many new faces on the Congress Picture (Mugshot)

Misleading for Trump to say that US is the highest taxed nation. Tax burden as a percentage of GDP is among the lowest of 36 OECD countries. After deductions, effective corporate tax rate is in line with other countries.
According to Congress budget office, growth of national debt is unsustainable in the long term. Since remedies such as higher tax revenue or lower spending are hard to implement, governments prefer more debt or economic growth to gain time.
