Enthusiasm for Presidential Candidates

You can measure an outcome of a Presidential election from your barstool while tracking the latest news on your laptop. What is one of the factors determining who will win on 5 November? The factor is enthusiasm for the candidate. The short version of the very long historical record. We the citizens of the Unites States were told in November 2020 that a man with dementia defeated a man who was drawing anywhere from 15,000 to 25,000 for every rally. The man with dementia campaigned from his basement. If there was a biden rally. Less than 1000 would show up to find their circle created by the medial industrial complex to comply with social distancing. What is happening in the fall of 2024? Ther legitimate POTUS is drawing huge crowds in large venues while harris is lucky to have 100 show up to listen to her word salads! What might happen? We will all wake up on Wednesday 6 November to be told by the Deep state through the mouthpieces of our mainstream media that camala harris barely defeated President Trump and is the POTUS! The following is today's headline.

Giant crowds erupt in support of President Trump everywhere -- simultaneously, Harris and Walz are met by boos and anger everywhere they go!

But seriously, I am not sure exactly how much all of that misses something that has not been a factor in races before -- the anti-Trump factor.

There is a larger sentiment from voters to simply go out and vote AGAINST Trump.  That is something you have not seen in previous races and I am still unsure how much the pollsters have taken that into account.

Very rarely, have you seen situations where people want to actually go out and vote AGAINST a candidate and, not necessarily, FOR another candidate.

I hear you Raiders! If people opened their eyes during the last 4 years and were brutally honest with themselves. They know the last 4 years have been a sheetshow inside the White House. How can anybody in their right mind cast a vote for harris/walz? I am repeating myself. If our Presidential election is honest and legitimate. Trump wins in a landslide!

 It goes back to what I always say:  the Democrats have to be given credit for rallying behind whatever candidate is left for them to vote for.

They do a much better job than the Republicans do about this.  If the Republicans do not like the candidate they are left with, a lot of them will stay home.  You saw this with Romney and McCain, for example.

Now the Democrats have a candidate that was the first one off of the stage the last time out.  But this time they have been GIVEN a candidate that was NOT ELECTED but that was SELECTED for them.

So, there is no way Harris should generate that much interest as a candidate as Obama, who was more charismatic and the first black candidate to vote for; or, Clinton who was a very solid candidate with good experience and the first woman to vote for.

That is why you have to question if and how Biden -- an old white guy -- could generate that much interest and truly get that many votes on his own.

You have to ask how much of the enthusiasm is coming from a segment that WANTS to solely vote AGAINST a candidate.

I do not think traditional polls have factored this in well enough.

  Nope....as much as you want that to be true, it just isn't. Many see Trump as the "anti-politician".....something the dems never produce. The sentiment is starting to change. Many that hated Trump initially are getting disgusted with what the dems are serving up, especially after almost four years of Dementia Joe.

 Sorry, but no one is really behind the Harris movement other than hardcore dems that would vote for a pile of dung if it had a "D" next to it.

Or, it shows there is a such thing as brand loyalty. I supported the Golden State Warriors for like three decades before I was able to experience them winning. And they were an absolute dumpster fire for most of that. Now i've seen them play in six finals, winning four championships.

Rest assured old Trump will be a dribbling, drooling lump of putridity in 2028 ! As will his large crowds of loyal MAGATS ! By then he should have all his legal issues behind!

I travel to the US many times on vacation, and I was definetely in "Trump Country" in East Washington, in S. Car., in Utah, in Ohio, in Florida, and just before this election I'll be in the Smokey Mtns of Tenn. I love these places. The nature, the small towns....I respect the people, and I like them, too. But when they start to talk politics and how the "...democrats this, the democrats that...", I start to cringe, but I will engage. I bite my tongue though when they talk about Trump, and I don't get it. To me, he is vulgar and uncooth, and I guess that interview with David Letterman in the 1980s was the signal he would run for President oneday, and his style of tearing someone down was in evidence then (I think he was putting down the NY mayor Ed Koch...) I don't know what he did while in office four years to justify any enthusiasm. I don't hate the Trump supporters. I just feel they're terribly misguided and just plain wrong.

You do have a point.  Consider that 10-15% of Trumps rallies are the same people attending the traveling circus over and over so his numbers of new attendees is lower
