The recidivism rate in the United States is about 2 1/2 times higher than in Norway, and since the U.S. imprisons about 10 times as many people per capita than Norway, that means a whole lot of people will commit more crimes. We should emphasize rehabilitation rather than punishment. What we are currently doing is not working.

From 1979 to 2013, prison spending rose by 324%. Education spending rose by 107%.

How much money does it take to get an F student to an A student?
Is it just that simple?
No, it is not that simple. I do not claim that every education dollar is spent wisely.
I do say that a student in a class of 17 will get more personal attention when needed than a student in a class of 34.
I do say that teachers' pay should be enough to attract the best and brightest. Students will fare a lot better if they are taught by the best and brightest rather than by the dumbest and most desperate.

Especially when I can make 1 phone call and get any drug imaginable within 30 minutes. What a waste of money
Sometimes you don't even have to place a phone call. I take the bus and occasionally strangers will just walk right up to me while I am waiting in a bus shelter and offer me some "organic entertainment."

'climate change' is like 150 billion a year. and for nothing. huge joke
Two-thirds of the warming has occurred in the last 40 years, at a rate of roughly 0.15 - 0.20°C per decade, and the speed of temperature change is accelerating. This seemingly little increase is having serious impact on the environment and our lives: melting ice caps; rising sea levels that jeopardize the mere existence of islands and sea shores around the world; and severe weather patterns that cause devastating storms, droughts, and flooding. To put this in perspective, a one- to two-degree drop was all it took to plunge the Earth into the Little Ice Age.
Carbon Dioxide (Co2) accounts for more than 76% of GHG emissions and the remainder consists of methane (51% of which is being produced by cows), nitrous oxide (e.g. fertilizer), and fluorinated gases (e.g. refrigeration). Of all greenhouse gas emissions, 35% is generated by the energy sector, 21% by industry, 14% by transportation, and 24% by agriculture and forestry.
Mankind is responsible for much of the GHG emissions. The consequences are already painfully obvious for all but the heinously greedy capitalist pigs who refuse to alter their destructive behavior because it might cost them some money.
