Ottawa protest represents a fringe minority funded by American GOP interfering in Canada.  This protest is no January 6 insurrection.  Unlike the US, Canadians are not as politically polarized and less likely to start a civil war.  Conservatives and liberals are moderates who value order over freedom and often agree on important policy issues.  With 80% of Canadians fully vaccinated, anti-vaccine movement has no mainstream political constituency in government.  In Abacus data poll, 87% of Ottawa residents oppose protest against covid restrictions. In Leger poll, 65% of Canadians oppose protest. The longer this protest lasts, the more unpopular it's likely to become.

Left wing leaning American tech companies such as Facebook and GoFundMe interfering with the right to protest in Canada and the US. Democracy is in peril when billionaire groups decide who can protest and who cannot. Millions around the world have had enough of useless restrictions. Denmark dropped their mandates on February 1st despite high case numbers and a death rate per capita equal to Canada's. The people have had enough but democrat politicians cannot let go of that false moral superiority they get with their useless mandates. Over the course of the last several months the nine mandated US states have had a higher percentage of cases.

This is not an "anti- vax" movement, rather A RIGHT TO PERSONAL CHOICE, FREEDOM. What sense does it make to force truck drivers to be vaccinated when Omicron infects everyone including the vaccinated.

The same groups who gladly use government funds to supply drug addicts with needles and pipes, allow them to live on the streets, defend the right to smoke despite smoking killing 480,000 a year in the US and contaminating others with second hand smoke are the same folks who demand forced vaccination.

    Go figure!

The same groups who gladly use government funds to supply drug addicts with needles and pipes. (But funding to build a stupid wall is Ok with you, right? So you want people reuse dirty needles & make a bad situation worse, right? What is your solution?)

Allow them to live on the streets (Where do you want them to go? You don't want funding to build facilities to help them, right?)

Defend the right to smoke despite smoking killing 480,000 a year in the US and contaminating others with second hand smoke are the same folks who demand forced vaccination. (What do you suggest? Abolish cigarettes? Then liquor to prevent drunk driving murders?)

Briefly, what are your answers to these issues?

You sure are caught up on this wall. At least the wall puts construction workers back to work.

Most homeless don't want help anyway and probably wouldn't take housing because there are rules that come along with that. They just want fee drugs and for people to hand them money so they can buy more alcohol.

Smoke is addictive. It does kill. Just like fast food makes people unhealthy. But we don't force people who smoke to take a nicotine patch, nor do we check peoples weight before they buy a fast food burger. Forcing vaccines would be the equivalent of scanning someones ID when they buy cigs, alcohol, fast food and anything else unhealthy and then giving that info to their doctors so their medical rates increase. The whole thing about vaccines is to sloe hospitals down, but the same can be said about cigs, fast food etc, but we don't do that now do we? We allow people the freedom to make their own choices. So why mandate the vax?

You sure are caught up on this wall. At least the wall puts construction workers back to work. (The Build Back America Bill puts construction workers employed for years to come & fixes our crumbling infrastructure. The Wall was the most ridiculous idea that had to be attempted because Trump promised it & of course, it failed. Only caught up on the wall because people believed it along with Draining the Swamp.)

Most homeless don't want help anyway probably wouldn't take housing because there are rules that come along with that. They just want fee drugs and for people to hand them money so they can buy more alcohol. (Disagree that most would not want decent housing like they had before they became homeless. Agree that many of them have abuse & mental health issues. But as a society we can't just flush them don't the toilet or make believe they don't exist. Some  won't abide by rules but plenty more would if given the opportunity IMO.

I might encourage some fat bastard to put down the potato chip bag or give assistance to help someone stop smoking. They can accept that olive branch or not. But if their lack of self control impacts my operation by choosing to be unhealthy, they gotta go work somewhere else.)

The repeal of personal freedom's. In the United States during the summer of 2020 you had people entering residential neighborhoods in the middle of the night screaming through blowhorns "wake up mother f- er, wake up". No arrests made.

In Canada; 78 year grandfather arrested in middle of day and handcuffed for giving a thumbs up and tooting his car horn in support.

Here are people FOLLOWING DEMOCRACY by peacefully assembling and protesting yet their leader refuses to address them on their disputes.

So who is failing DEMOCRACY here? Pretty obvious!

    @Midnight1

Drug addiction cannot be deemed acceptable if we as a society wish to exist. Those with addiction require help and yes I am all for monies going to reducing drug addiction, not fostering it. Same with folks on the street. You get them off the street, either a halfway house or mental institution. Staying on the street destructive for everyone.

Smoking; if you want to smoke and destroy your lungs, go for it. Haven't found one smoker who really doesn't want to quit. You sure as hell do not have the right to destroy my lungs too! All indoor venues should be no smoking, period.

The wall; drugs have never been easier to get on the street, cheaper now than during Trump admin, only thing Biden made cheaper. Wonder how that happened? an_light

Trump built the wall because those who voted him into office demanded he do so. When an elected leader does what voters ask for that is called DEMOCRACY. So who demanded Biden make energy prices skyrocket along with inflation?

As far as liquor, I find our DUI laws effective, our George Soros backed DA's on the otherhand............

Why would you force someone to get the vax to work for you?

If we just give every homeless person a place to live, how does that look to the rest of society that works and pays taxes to afford to live. Why would people work and pay taxes when someone else gets something for free? How would society continue to build if the incentive to work is the same as getting something for free?

I am really curious about the first question. Answering "because the government said so" IMO is not a credible answer since YOU have the right to make the call....

A Canadian province was looking at charging the unvaccinated a yearly health premium of about $600. So how about smokers too, maybe the obese? Certainly smokers are a huge burden to the health system.

"We have the freedom in our country as employers/employees"  How about mandatory drug testing?
