since this is his last day, i'm going to report how things have changed for CDS Enterprises in eight years. these are concrete changes, not some amorphous bullsh*t like i feel the country is more divided than before or whatever people say about that.
Improvements:
1. Significant increase in net worth based on increased value of investments. i remember the days when it seemed like the stock market was getting crushed day in and day out. those weren't fun and i'm glad they ended.
2. Increased size of business by 100%. we were a 4 person operation in 2008. we are now 8 and in two cities. it's always nice when people have money to pay and we have to credit an immigration system that is logical and somewhat predictable that allowed us to expand.
3. Health insurance. This is probably the most important for two reasons. i was working for a bigger firm many years ago and was worried that i could not leave because i needed reasonably priced health insurance. obviously, the inability to insure yourself or your family on your own can be a huge impediment to entrepreneurship or going off on your own. we were able to get a policy and make that change. secondly, the kids can be on it to age 26. at least for now. hard to underestimate how important this is.
4. Recently got kids in a high quality public school which will save a lot of money and keep them away from the kind of douchebags that populate the private schools around here.
those are the concrete positive changes i can think of.
Negatives;
1. Health insurance and all insurance continues to be a huge financial drag. it's crazy how much we spend on all of the different insurance policies we have.
2. wife has gained weight. it's not easy explaining to her the importance of regular exercise. any ideas are welcome.
so, that's my assessment of the last 8 years without subjective bullsh*t.
i'll do another objective one in 4 years, probably written in russian from my gulag in siberia, if they have internet access.

I wish I could help with the weight issue of your wife Clubdirt. I never talk weight. or exercise with women. Especially my ex wife or family members. They take it way to personally even though I consider my approach to be respectful and well intentioned. Basically people like to take short cuts rather than exercise. Example. Eat less food. The body was made to move around a little bit.
