I keep seeing all of these record unemployment numbers, most jobs created ever, month after month added jobs in the hundreds of thousands..
I get the post covid return to normal, that time has passed and we are beyond those affects.
What is it over the past year or so that has enabled a stagnant US population (growth wise) the ability to continue adding all these jobs ??
No one anywhere here has touched on that subject. I'd like to hear from some of the cheerleading experts that cut & paste these numbers day in and day out but we all know they won't so perhaps someone else could enlighten us....
Thanks

@kcblitzkrieg New FBI data confirms previous indications that crime in the U.S. declined significantly in 2023. Rhymes with hoarder.......hmmn, Order as in Law & Order. GOTCHA!
Ahhhh.....very good, lol.
Unfortunately, local crime #'s don't align with the fbi's report.

It had gotten pretty bad. One would hope it would start to decline eventually. This isn't a feather to stick in one's cap. It's still bad compared to a pre-covid world.

He's from the Seattle area. You can also add the Portland area and Bay Area to that list. Maybe is down in 2023 compared to 2022 but that isn't saying much as crime has been up across the country to levels not seen since the early 90s.

For context, my hometown of Oakland had 66 homicides in 2018. I can't stress how historically low that is for Oakland. There were 126 in 2023. That's actually up from last year but down compared to the worst days of covid lockdowns. Portland, the closest major city to where I live now, had 20 homicides in 2016. Twenty. There were 96 in 2022, a record. There were 74 in 2023, which is a significant drop, but only because 2021 and 2022 both set records. There were 33 homicides in 2018. 74 doesn't make me feel better about the state of Portland. 126 doesn’t make me feel great about Oakland. You will find similar numbers for assaults, property crimes, etc, and see these same trends echoed in cities across the breadth of America.

Government jobs make up a decent % of "jobs created" (using other peoples money)
Second jobs and a small amount of third jobs are adding more so people can keep up with inflation ( ya know, the inflation that isn't reported but affects everyone's everyday life like the basic necessities).
Not to mention that literally every "jobs created" report lowers the number after the report comes out, but MSM never tells you that. It's all a fugazi.

Yes, this was a piece of it early on in the job market "comeback". Nice to see some discussion generated, will share the bigger piece of the puzzle shortly....

In just February, 1.2 million immigrants (legal and illegal) gained a job. Meanwhile, 500k native-born Americans LOST their job. Since Covid, native-born workers have actually LOST 2 million jobs. All of the net job gains are immigrants.

These reports are priceless. They count The jobs the government mandated to shut down as new jobs in the past.
Right....it's like no one knows how to analyze data properly...those jobs should not count towards the stat and should be reportedly separately...I report monthly hiring figures to the DOL and not one aspect asks us to differentiate or breakdown rehires from the pandemic versus actual new hiring...it's skewed like everything else...
And let me tell most of you who may not know if you do not own or operate a business or are not part of gathering information that make up these reports...they are all skewed...there is zero accountability for what is reported...meaning, employers can report whatever they want whether it is factual or not and some employers may just be reporting anything to get it off their plate...not really a good system in how the information is gathered...completely flawed...most think these statistics mean something, but if you knew how the data was collected and what most employers think of this process you would really rethink or evaluate what these stats mean...they are completely worthless given no of the data is vetted...

"Under Biden (2020-2024), the labor force has surged in large part due to immigration: 2/3 of all jobs in 2023 went to foreign-born workers & all labor force growth since Feb 2020 has been due to foreign-born individuals. As a result: labor markets balanced, and wage inflation rose with productivity."
"We have "more workers" from immigration - aka, Biden's 'failed' border policy. Stay with me...
Again, I am NOT defending this policy, but making clear that immigration is not being highlighted as contributing factor to falling inflation, because it is so polarizing.
Immigration is important to labor participation, which rolled over hard once Trump took office. Remember the obstacles in sourcing #H1-B visas? So many sent packing and borders were closed.
Well, weak immigration translates to labor shortages and elevated wage inflation - especially at the lower end of wage earners.
And the inverse is true: strong immigration contributes to higher productivity, more consumption and more tax receipts.
Since February 2020 - post Trump - almost all labor force growth in United States has been due to foreign-born individuals."

@scooby-doos Yes but im sure every report about trump was the greatest report ever created. He alone solved everything and will solve everything. God never created a better man.
See,,, was that so hard to give the man credit for the things he did well. I am proud of you BC and maybe,,, just maybe,,, we can root for a better America. Lets fix the border, economy, horrible wars that just started last few years, work on all the crime and massive future migrant crime and help others by leading and not from behind. We will have to have a changing of the guard to make that happen and I hope you will root for a great America, no matter the person calling the shots.
Good luck and bring on Nov. 5th as fast as we can.
