Some D.C. National Guard troops deployed to protests in Washingtonhave tested positive for COVID-19, officials said Tuesday — as top White House Coronavirus Task Force members warned governors of a possible spike in infections tied to the nationwide demonstrations.
The service members were among 1,300 D.C. National Guard members called to assist law enforcement in responding to anti-police brutality protests in the nation’s capital beginning on May 31, a spokeswoman confirmed
She would not say how many troops had tested positive for the virus, but U.S. officials told The Associated Press they believe it is not currently a large number.
The news follows reports that two members of the Nebraska National Guard who were activated to respond to protests in Lincoln also tested positive.

Just to add a little fuel to the fire. The director of the Arizona Health Department has ordered (not advised) all hospitals to make full preparation for a spike in cases of Covid-19, including full capacity ICU and respirator provisions. With the shutdown unlocked now about 2 weeks, we can expect to see evidence in the next 2 to 3 weeks if the unlock was premature. Arizona is basically a conservative, "Wild West", Trump supporting state. That kind of news is slightly ominous.

The Grove has mentioned postponed it's picnic weekend. And hosting some thing later he n the fall. But this could be rumored. If such an event is cancelled then we are all fkd. . I was kind of hoping mctrap was right and this was all a hoax. But reality we are dealing with a new invasive life form .

The supply of remdesiver is depleted . It will need to replenish Ed . The mutation models seem to indicate a new form immune to the vaccine would develope but it seems much more advanced for the standard 2 year booster... Medical journalism is painting a more pesimistic approach to moderna trials.

Chicago has cancelled Lollapalooza, the Air&Water Show, and The Taste of Chicago.
You mentioned Arizona as "The Wild West" Key, damn right. I forget what year it was, at the Denis Green "we let them off the hook" game my buddy got it good. I wasn't there but 6 of my friends attended, one of which was black. There was some drinking in the parking lot. And while in line decked out in all bears gear they were talking smack to Cardinals fans. At the gate security pulled their tickets for being drunk and disorderly. The black guy got tazered and locked up. The other 5 were told to leave.
This was before the cell phone video camera era.

Yeah, Arizona is racist as shite. The pacific northwest is too but most of the people are genuinely good and nice. And i'm sure the same can be said about Arizona. We define these places, we define groups of people, professions, even entire races by the bad apples. That's a problem

Well Stu, here we go again. Arizona, overall, is NOT racist. There are some racists of course but not any more than anywhere else, perhaps less. Too many folks buy into the "America's toughest sheriff" BS fostered by Joe Arpaio. HE certainly was a racist, but far more versus Hispanics than blacks. He also got his comeuppance when the Republican money and his "war chest" could no longer overcome his lawsuits and legal expenses, all of which he lost and Maricopa County taxpayers (ME) had to cover. After 15 to 20 million dollars in lost suits and legal expenses the voters finally, emphatically, dumped him. He would be spending his retirement in prison if Donny baby had not pardoned him. He had a friend he could count on because if Donny had a few more Joe Arpaio's he wouldn't need a border wall.

It's also the only state that voted against making MLKs b-day a national holiday. Arizona has been comsidered racist long before Arpaio was Sheriff and long before illegal immigration was a hot take news item. It's neither here nor there though, it you read and comprehend what I actually wrote, my point was that no place, no group, no race... is actually that racist. We define everything by it's worst examples. Arizona isn't racist just like cops aren't. Now with that said, grading on a bell curve, sorry dude but Arizona is widely considered to be pretty racist. Has been for a long time and it has nothing to do with illegal immigration or hispanics in general.

I've heard so much good things about Maricopa county
My buddy worked at Burlington Coat factory and saw his White(yes OJ Simpson) Bronco on an episode of cops. He said he must of been working while the episode went down. Some guys were stealing a car that was parked next to his.
Is auto theft still big in AZ? I heard it's common out there where the thieves boogie down to Mexico with the vehicles. That might be different now with how the border control tightened up. Or didn't, I really don't know.

My friend lived down there for 3 or so years. Loved the weather, loved the women of Scottsdale(I agree 100%, the a s s in Scottsdale beats any), loved the infrastructure and so on. But he couldn't win with the cops ever. He got pulled over for being black all the time for no reason. He never, ever smoked weed but got searched for it a few times.
Now he's in Florida, married a Columbian girl and has 2 kids. Great guy in general.

Sorry The Stumpster.. It was because MLKjr.was Republican, that they voted against making his B-day an National Holiday.

Wallstreetcappers is in Arizona and he's good and nice....
Last I checked Tuc is also part of Arizona SS..
And yes the state and its leadership are a bunch of morons, our numbers are out of control yet the GOP gov is still planning opening schools in another month or so and isnt planning on making any changes. When I go out its like 70/30 no mask and people are going out dining and shopping like nothing is going on.
Also nice that the media has been saying next to nothing about this massive increase. Its not going to get better with leaders like Ducey running the show and senators like Sinema hiding in the background to avoid voter backlash.

I surrender. We now have about 10 opinions of Arizona, a few by residents or people of experience and a few by folks that have never been within a thousand miles. As is typical of Covers all opinions vary widely and can not be categorized, but none of them are wrong. Anyone willing to punch a keyboard is of an opinion in which he has great faith. The only thing we are missing is that guy (also entitled to his opinion) that always refers to Arizona as "California with cactus".

Who offering an opinion has never been within 1000 miles of Arizona? It's Arizona, not the moon. There's five of us in this convo and two live there so who are you making assumptions of, me or slim?

I am not making assumptions about anyone, that is why You, Slim and all other names are omitted. I was speaking in generalities and virtual location, not specifics. Since it seems I have offended you in some way and you can't get past it you can rest assured I will never address you again, certainly not specifically you; although you may fall into a category of member I am addressing. If the shoe fits, wear it. Your judgement.
deepest apologies

What is your problem, dude? When have I ever seemed offended by anyone on this site? It's all you. You're the one taking offense. I make a general, half-joking comment about baby boomers and you write a full-on dissertation. I make an anecdotal comment about the racism in Arizona and you jump full into defense mode. What? This can't be the first time you've heard this sentiment about Arizona? Then you have the nerve to act like i'm the one wearing bunched up panties. "Since I seemed to have offended you.... If the shoe fits..." Get the fuck out of here. Say what you want, you literally have zero ability to offend me. Gumpert used to literally call me a jig and he's the first person I ever reached out to on this site. This place is a virtual sausage fest. It's like 100% dudes. We should be able to be forward with each other. What you won't do though is act like i'm the one getting bent out of shape because there's literally a record of everything typed here. So there's a record of me keeping it light-hearted. And there's of a record of you bitching at me like you're going through menopause. And I legit thought we were cool.

I thought you did. And so does Wally. Key's off his rocker. He acts like it news to him that people think Arizona is racist. I didn't just pull that out of my arse. I don't even get why he is getting so butthurt about it. I live in the Pacific Northwest and it's known for being racist as shite too. Knew that before I moved here. Doesn't faze me. It's a wonderful place with wonderful people. As far as Key, "The lady doth protest too much..." It's funny how old, white liberals clutch their pearls when you even associate them with racism in anyway but they throw the accusation around at white conservatives like it's rice at a wedding. Read back through the last few posts and look at how defensive Key became when literally all I said was, Arizona is racist as shite." Wally wasn't offended. You weren't. Key turned it into a thing. Then had the nerve to act like i'm being sensitive.

Stu, my man..don't worry about KeyElement.. he's been victim coded for sometime now...
I'm not sweatin' it, Slim. I'm going snowboarding tomorrow for the 3rd time in two weeks... during a pandemic... in June. What's to fret? I realize this whole Covid-19 is taking it's toll on the mental health of many people and I think many who are septuagenarians and older have been especially affected. I get it. For one, being faced with one's own mortality isn't easy but more than that, I think the isolation is particularly harmful. This is the generation that grew up reading Kerouac and other beat writers like instruction manuals. The couples you see out on the highway still roadtripping at 75 (age and MPH), except now they're cruising in a $90,000 RV. These are the people who keep reminding us that we must, "Stay in. Flatten the curve. Wear your mask, ect." ...they're the heralds of the cause but at the same time, they seem to be the first to collectively crack up. Look at how midnight went off the deep end. I hate to bring him up because he's not here to defend himself and he's been serving his sentence in the right way but let's be real, he kinda lost it. It wasn't directed at me and I really couldn't give a damn but it reminded me of when Scal would lose it. So Key, if you're reading, as far as I remember we've always been cool. I don't want you or any baby boomers to die. My parents are baby boomers for Christ's sake. Arizona is a fine state. I'm quite fond of Flagstaff. Little known fact, it's higher than Denver. As far a western states go, I only rank it behind California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and New Mexico, in no particular order.
TIME TO BRING BACK THE OBAMA CAGES!

KeyElement actually got his feelers bent when you told WSCer's the other day you were only having fun with Key..it seems he misread you and thought you meant you were just toying with him in your debates.
That's why he said you were posting to get under his skin or get him excited about a topic,,(excited?) that's a funny emotion to have for us guys.. So, it appears he's trying to turn the table on you trying to get under your skin.. don't let him play you man.
