link Snow on the summit of Mauna Kea: it’s not exactly a rare sight during a Hawaiian winter.
But how about in June?
With just a few days removed from the official start of summer, the summit of the Big Island’s biggest mountain was covered by white after a passing thunderstorm dropped inches of ice at the 13,000 foot level.
Noteworthy weather for Waimea resident Pam Kao, her daughter and her friends…
“It was hailing in Waimea!” said Pam. “I dont know if it has to do the with the world climate change, or what.”
The Mauna Kea Access Road was closed for a period this weekend, but by Sunday afternoon, the summit was open to the public once more.
Employees on the roofs of the summit observatories worked to clear as much snow from the telescopes as possible before nightfall.
The roads were in good condition, and although the mountain was quiet for a snow day, there were still some brave groups who ventured up.
The snowy slopes were not ideal for sledding, but it was difficult for Akao and the kids to resist going down on their bodyboards.
Their second run illustrated the dangers that can be present on the mountain. Hitting one of Mauna Kea’s large rocks is an easy mistake to make.
Luckily no one was hurt, but it was a reminder that this sort of recreational use of the mountain has its pitfalls. It is also important to keep in mind the altitude: respiratory issues, frigid temperatures, and snow blindness are all potential problems at 13,000 feet above sea level.
And what’s a trip to the top of Mauna Kea without bringing a little snow back down, where Hawaii enjoys its typical climate… at a warm 80 degrees.

Enviornmentalists have changed the term from Global Cooling to Global Warming to Climate Change. Every time a label loses steam they pick up another one. With Climate Change that covers everything: If it's too hot, if it's too cold, if it rains too much, if it doesn't rain enough, etc.

We will be hitting a record here in New England of 100 degrees on Thursday. This, after a tornado in downtown Springfield, MA last week.
Call it what you want, but this shit IS NOT "normal".
Its incredible how uneducated these guys are about global warming. Its comical how they go find one spoot and that somehow prove there case that there is no global warming happening. Tomorrow we are gonna get hit with temps over 100 , which is way above normal. Amazing how they look the other way about all the high temps that are above normal across the country and instead go pick out a story about hawaii. Total clowns and no matter how many times people try to explain to them what global warming really means, they still cant grasp it. I guess that makes them feel better, if they think there not helping to cause global warming.

Global Warmest are not saying the Globe is just warming ..but saying the reason is Anthropogenic Global Warming ..and that the only reason is because of mans pollution ..
Man does pollute the Globe ,but it's not proven that, that is the sole reason for climate change .. and I highly doubt that buying carbon credits will change a thing ..

Was that after theChicago Climate Exchange shut down in January or after Tipper asked for a divorce because he wouldn't put the toilet seat down or turn -off the night lighting at his $9 million 6500 sq. foot Montecito Villa mansion ?

It looks like Algore beleives it takes more energy to turn things on ..than if you keep them running ..like last Oct. when he left his car running for an hour while he was giving a speech ....
But who can blame him ..no one likes getting into a hot car..

You say it is incredible how uneducated we are but you didn't provide any info to dispute us. 5FF provided you w/ an example that backs up his stance and you provided us an example that backs up your stance. There are too many scientist out there that don't believe in man-made global warming. I can't see any benefit for an educated scientist to say there isn't man-made global warming if there is.

In the late 50's and early 60's the crisis was that the planet was going to die due to the alleged proliferation of radioactive fallout caused by nuclear testing.
At the end of the '60s and early '70s, overpopulation and global famine was the prediction and topic of all the major news outlets. Obesity is now a problem in our country.
Throughout the 70's the fear was the coming of the new ice age and the predictions that within 30 years California was going to slide into the ocean following "the big one" earthquake.\ Unfortunately California and its wackos is still out there.
Don't forget about acid rain. Where did that go?
Today the new crisis is man made Global Warming...
I've had to put up with liberal environmental bullshit whose sole purpose was to create mass hysteria in order to transfer literally billions of dollars in federal grants and subsidies into the funding of all these ridiculous studies.
Al Gore and all his mindless groupies can kiss my ass.

I dont know about the earth dying but I bet millions of people have died of cancer from it. Theres just no way to tie it to that. We are going to have round 2 of that in the years to come from Fukushima.
