WTF?  Is this a joke?

That's about what the USA uses in 2 days.

Ugh.... what a waste. I thought the strategic reserve was for, you know, emergency purposes only. The price of gasoline being high is NOT an emergency purpose in my mind. Plus let's say the increase in supply brings the price down a tad.... what happens when those increased reserve barrels are bought? Only way the price stays that low and doesn't bounce back up is if we CONTINUALLY increase supply over a period of time, not just a little blip here and there.

This coupled with the troop drawback, is just his attempt to stem the flow of hate from both sides of the aisle. Lets face it, he is not a very popular president right now.

it's so he can say he was looking out for the common man during his campaign...he feels our pain. Libya accounted for approx 2% of the worlds oil production before all this nonsense began, with most of that going to Europe. This is all a crock of shit.

i just read this.  what the fuck is this guy doing?  on second thought, don't answer that. 

i'm far from an expert on this issue.  is anyone on here taking the other side and defending this?

Exactly who cuts us a check for 30 million barrels. Might want to see if its any good first..........but then again I guess it just doesn't matter anymore.

They could always make it out to me: 1IRON for 3,000,000,000 and no cents.....

Then I can leverage that 40 to 1 and put it on a 10 team parlay.......kind of like what the banks do with our pay checks, deposits, and 401k's.

They only thing I can say in defense of this charade is that the oil speculators are getting a well deserved fat dildo up their asses.

That would be nice Goose. But one thing I can guarantee you is  that the big boys knew about this release before it went public. They either sold or went short. Small timers got burnt as usual.

A small gesture to tell speculators that the government will play their game.(And actually have the means.)  That  means every small business, every middle class American and every coporate  giant that does not need gas to fuck with their bottom lines.  About time and it will cost us nothing.  Fucking cock roaches.

I seem to recall people and some posters applauding Bush when it was considered.

I think it is a short sided, stupid idea myself. It only gives fuel to speculators that we are desperate.

Until you get speculators out or CRUSH them, things really wont improve.

Hike the margin levels, that makes a ton more sense than this move..put margin requirements ultra high and see what happens.

It doesn't even have precedent for being used to "prop up" the economy.   Just an F'n stupid decision by the admin.

The only other two times it's been used was during Gulf War I, and Hurricane Katrina.     Those two would qualify as emergency circumstances... not this one though.

Gas prices might cost him the election and history shows that he is far more self serving and about his own career then the theory of global warming....
