I was outraged when I read the topic of your thread, so I checked with my limited resources on the validity of your statement.
I've learned that no military service dogs were left behind. Pictures of dogs in crates were those of the Kabul Small Animal Rescue awaiting a chartered plane that never arrived.
The relationship between a service dog & it's handler is like the bond between soldiers if not stronger if that is possible. A tremendous amount of time & money goes into the training for both the dog & the soldier.
When you really think about it, no soldier would allow their loyal partner to be left behind.
