The NFL reportedly plans to play a song titled, "Lift Ev’ry Voice And Sing", also known as the Black National Anthem, prior to every season opening game this year..."Lift Every Voice And Sing" was written in 1900 to celebrate Lincoln’s freeing the slaves..It was sung to celebrate Nelson Mandela's release from prison in 1990, and at President Barack Obama's inauguration in 2009.
The song, according to ESPN, will be played prior to the Star-Spangled-Banner.
It will be interesting to see if black players stand for the Black National Anthem... will then take a knee a few minutes later during the National Anthem...

It's a beautiful song for everyone. We used to sing it in school growing up. It doesn't mention black people once. It's all about faith in god and faith in country. It's not like the ol' negroe spiritual. It's very much a national anthem kind of song. Not just a black national anthem. I hope if black people are going to rejoice in hearing it, that they really listen and heed the lyrics. It isn't a seperatist kind of song. It isn't a song that says, "America is horrible. Be proud to be black but not proud to be an American." Very much the opposite.
TIME TO BRING BACK THE OBAMA CAGES!

Burgess Owens who on Tuesday won the Republican nomination for Utah's 4th Congressional District,,, has voiced disdain for the playing of a song widely considered the Black national anthem prior to NFL games. He tweeted Thursday that “There is no ‘black national anthem.’”....He added, “Why does it feel like the country is trying to segregate again sometimes?”

Whether.. it is the Black National Anthem or not ..this is for the black community to decide.
But,what Owens was projecting was there should not be two National Anthems, it will just divide us even more..Whats next the Asian National Anthem ? There will be no end to the number of National Anthems we will have..This will not make us united .

I agree that it is divisive and will not unite us. I feel that the OP's initial thought on the topic is exactly what will happen. You might even see some in the stands take a knee for one or the other or both anthems. How is that uniting?

The Black National Anthem to be sung at NFL games this year ..was written by a black Republican who denounced Democrats for lynching blacks ...
James Weldon Johnson was an American civil rights activist, school principal and writer.
According to Grand Ole Partisan, in 1900, he wrote the poem "Lift Every Voice and Sing" to honor Republican activist Booker T. Washington when the civil rights leader visited his school..
Johnson’s political activism began with denouncing Democrats for lynching African-Americans.
