Its simple:

If Trump grows the economy at the level of the last president but builds a wall he'll win re-election

If Trump grows the economy at 20% and doesn't build a wall.......he won't get re-electedan_light

Why do you think both sides fight him on the wallan_light

He doesn't build a wall he loses the christian vote. He got 81% of the vote from christians. If he gets "normal" republican numbers with christians..........he loses in a landslide

Several reasons why a wall is a bad idea.  First, US-Mexico border is already well defended and a wall would do little to improve defenses. Secondly, illegal immigration has been declining for years.  Third, no way Mexico will pay for the wall.  Huge cost for American taxpayers which could be as high as $40 billion.

Fourth, dubious cost effectiveness in keeping out illegal immigrants.  Barriers work best in high populated areas but a waste of money in remote areas.  According to Cato institute, cold war border between east and west Germany is the most heavily fortified in history.  But thousands of successful breaches still occurred each year.

 Fifth, Most borderland Americans don't want a wall because they know it won't work and negatively impact environment, property rights and economy.  Years of litigation probable since aquiring privately owned land is necessary.

Many cities imposes a hotel/car rental tax on visitors to pay for stadiums, the newest being Las Vegas for the Raiders. The U.S. could impose a tax on the money being shipped out of the country pretty easily, because $billions get sent "home" yearly. 

Now in theory, your statement is true as I'm not paying for a stadium in Las Vegas, unless I visit there and rent.a car or stay in a hotel, I don't really have a choice now do I. I know this is complicated for you to understand but possibly Mexico won't pay for it but Mexicans will.

3P did you see the part about "Western Union", that's where that money will come from, a very specific tarrif on any transaction to Mexico, I'm thinking' 3-5% should do - call it The Wall Rake Tax. Of course they can always hand deliver the money if they really need to get it there, then good luck on the comeback.

The only reason people don't want a wall is because they are waterheads

Deep down both sides want what we have. GOP gets cheap labor Dems get votes and if Kate Steinle and border agents have to die so they get their cheap labor and votes they don't care
