Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump on Sunday said the U.S. needs to start looking into the use of profiling to stop terrorism.
"I
think profiling is something we're going to have to start thinking
about as a country," Trump said on CBS's "Face The Nation."
The candidate said he doesn't like the concept, but it may be necessary.
"Other countries do it. You look at Israel and you look at others, and they do it and they do it successfully," he said.
"I
hate the concept of profiling, but we have to start using common sense
and we have to use, you know, we have to use our heads. ... We really
have to look at profiling. We have to look at is seriously."
Earlier
in the interview, Trump avoided directly answering a question about
whether a Muslim buying ammunition and weapons should get extra
scrutiny.
"I don't know about that," he said.
"I think,
right now, we have some pretty big problems, and they're problems coming
out of radical Islamic groups. You know, radical Islamic groups. You
have a very, very strong group of people that is radical Islamic and
that seems to be a problem."
