So since some want to say requiring voter ID is racist and meant to stop minorities from voting. To be able to get government assistance, you have to have an ID. Since more white people are on assistance mainly because of the population, why is voter ID racist or why is this practice discriminatory? Wouldn't it be stopping more white people from voting?

Prove who you are to be able to have your vote count... don't care who you are just prove you are credible and are allowed to vote... Stupid to even argue that fact...

Key difference is that government assistance is a privilege while voting is a right for those eligible. Minority voters are more likely to lack government photo ids than white voters. University of California study reveals 8% of white Americans lack driver's license compared to 21% of blacks and 23% of hispanics. In the past, courts have overturned too strict voting identification laws in several states because of discrimination against minorities. Voting suppression is one of the reasons why US is a failing democracy.

You say voting is a right for those eligible. You do realize that one of the things that makes one eligible is providing proof that it is you. This is to protect the integrity of the voting system and each person that does vote.
You keep saying this suppresses people of minority bit it does not. If you are eligible to vote you have the same right as the next person to obtain the valid credentials to vote and you have 4 years to get your affairs in order.
Voting suppression is one of the reason why democracy is failing how can you say that...so it doesnt have more to do with the fact that politicians are liars and continue to have failed promises that they spew to get elected...politicians are crooks and liars in so many ways it has nothing to do with voter suppression...

why is that? And that study is a driver's license, that is just one form of ID. Most states offer ID's free of charge, it looks much like a driver's license but it's just a photo ID

I posted days ago, but life is about choices...If someone has 10 or 20 bucks and they can choose to get a valid ID so they can vote and have identification of who they are if need be or buy pack or two of cigarettes, which do you think they choose?
People do things out of convenience...it's just how a lot of humans are...vote, not vote...pay a bill, not pay a bill...get proof of ID, not get proof of ID....voting should not be a matter of convenience where restrictions are lessened when there are options and people choose an option to not satisfy the requirement...
Look at it this way, things in life are not for everyone. Those who are really concerned with voting will have no problem satisfying the requirement that has quite frankly already been in place. Question is, will it be enforced across the country? I know where I live they are still not asking for ID to obtain a ballot so apparently they have not received the memo...why? Don't know, but it is a problem. Follow the rules and let your vote count if you are interested. If not, you made a choice.

most definitely about life choices. I have never owned a pair of any fashionable shoes, I buy $35 skecher's from Sam's Club lol. I think the most I ever spent on shoes was $55 for dress shoes. I save over half my check for retirement. I would say the one thing I need to tighten up is the gambling, but that would probably be everyone on this site. I live a pretty tight budget, I live in a ghetto apartment that is cheap. Life choices!
