they hand tally the vote counts anyway...... and they do physical recounts of the votes in many places, especially legit close races.
don't totalled hand tallies have to match the machine's output?.... do you really think the machine will add 80k to biden's michigan count and that the observors, including R observors, won't notice?
honestly, doesn't the machine just speed things up? and cut down on the number of people required to be present (and yes, there are enough people present already, including D and R observors)........ and then no legit disputed races were called by election officials until MUCH MUCH later.
i understand there is probably room for fraud and error (hey, maybe trump's totals are too high... USPS fiasco etc. etc.) but i see it on the human side, not the machine side.
and BTW, for the two non-obvious errors/corrections i saw, one helped biden, one helped trump.... and no, an 80k error is count which is corrected moments later is NOT a non-obvious error. it's comical people raved about that.

The problem with the machines is their is no paper trail. A person presses a button and internally a program reads the data then uses the value to reference a tally... this needs to be set every election because the ballots differ year to year.

but don't they have a hand count anyway, maybe not in perfect real time?. i.e. they keep track of what they put in the machine ....... and i assume (i know, bad word) that the system is localized for each election. i.e. you see the results of what you are uploading.
