Been away from here for a very long time! Used to run the golf contest all season.
At 52 years old and having done this sports gambling thing since I was 18, I have learned some things over the years. First......You'll never will long term and money spent gambling on sports (or at all) should be what you'd spend for entertainment some other way. But I've also learned that IF I could ever stick to just betting on the things I'm most familiar with and have historically done very well with, things would be so much better.
Historically I've done very well on golf. So, I've decided that by coming here each week and sharing my picks, it will make me focus a lot more on golf, maybe even being close to exclusively betting on golf, and maybe I can help others. So I will give this a try or awhile and see how it goes.
About my golf betting style. I typically wager on 4-5 guys to win before Thursday each week. If it's a major, I'll play more guys. I never bet a favorite but do look in the 50-200-1 range mostly, 100-1+ being a focus. Then, I prefer to play in-game once things start. I have found that Saturday mornings are a good time to find 80-1+ guys that have a good shot to win. You'll see, I sprinkle in long shots early in the weekend or even Friday as well. I rarely bet any tournament or round head to head matchups as they aren't that lucrative. I also bet a lot o round leaders, especially first round leader and I'll do that starting mid morning as things start to shape up for the day. Finally during the final round, I'll start to hedge some of the potentials winners in the making so that often times I'll have 4 of the top 6 players in the last hour or two and sometimes all fo them so I know I'm going to win something......maybe big maybe much smaller but something either way.
So all of that said, I'm ready to go. I had Kirk in the Sentry and netted about $1275 that week all told, lost about $520 the next week and won $715 in the American Express. But none of those were posted and so for here, I'll start at zero.

Oh, I'm going to use actual $ amounts on plays because it is by far the best way to track these plays since they are all at x-1 odds and not with any juice like regular sports. Also, units likely would not work well either so $ it is.

I have similar style! I won money 6/7 of the first tournaments I bet. The danger of the strategy is if you are unable to hedge the winner and you have the wrong 5/6 in top 6. Look forward to your picks! For Pebble, I'm starting with (longshots):
English 110
Hadwin 110
Todd 120
Putnam 150.
---------------
Hoping to see McCarthy, Harman, Henley, Cole, Poston, and Burns come up to 100 Thursday/Friday
---------------
Hoping to see Fleetwood, Hovland, Homa, and Spieth come up Saturday/Sunday for the hedges
--------------
First bet: M. Fitz $500 for $15k (risk-free)
