You know I was thinking These Australians have won these Hawaii events a lot and history shows they play well in Hawaii
Well it's January and if you are from the USA northeast and gamble on harness racing you would know that it's summer in Australia and New Zealand and those horses always raced well in the winters here.
There may well be something to that thought
Smith Leishman Jones Davis
All played very well last week so I came back with them this week
Leishman -120 Ancer (1 unit) Leishman -115 v Na (1/2) Jones +115 v Henley (1/2) Jones -135 v Kisner (1/2) Smith -140 v Im
Davis -120 v Van Rooyen
also playing
Kizzire-115 v Zach Johnson Connors -125 v English
Power -110 v Kokrak
good luck all

Australians have played well in the Sony Open and the big dogs of Smith and Leishman have played well here in the past. That being said besides Smith's win in 2020 no Aussie has won this since the 90s. Since you wager matchups I totally get your logic and it true, as some wager outright win the logic doesn't hold up as much. (Probably means they will finish 1-2-3 this year lol) I do have Jones in my field so will hope for some magic.
Have to see what kind of wind comes about this weekend being on the island. Otherwise this course is very flat and not elevated at all like the last one.

Good post. And thanks for the correction as to Sony winners. Last week the announcers were talking about how well Aussies have done in Hawaii so I guess that the Tourney of Champions event may have had more Aussie winners than the Sony but it got me to thinking about how in harness racing those horses would come to US and do well here in US winter (it’s summer in Australia). Sure enough even the mediocre Aussies (Jones and Davis) did well last week. Gonna file that away for next year.
Wouldn’t mind some wind this week as the Aussies would likely benefit

You weren't wrong or criticizing you at all. You know your stuff and I know you play matchups. Aussies have been in the hunt at both tourneys for awhile. Pretty sure they have been close a number of times at the Sony Open. If memory serves me right Aaron Baddeley almost won this one year.
I totally get your Smith and Leishman plays. Full field and new faces I wasn't ready to pull the trigger on anyone under 20/1 to start out the tourney.
Beautiful weather last week that did help the field with basically no wind. See what happens this week....
