Covers Golf Contest Playoff Rules

With the final week of the regular season upon us, I figured now was a fantastic time to get to the good part of the season....PLAYOFFS!

Thanks to the 22 of us that made it through the entire season...a new record for the Covers Golf Contest. 

16 players made it through the entire regular season without missing a single week. 


The playoffs will consist of the top 16 finishers from the regular season.  If there is a tie for some strange reason I will use missed weeks as a breaker...if that doesn't work I will use the lowest score in the final week.


The playoff contestants will start The Barclays with their regular season position. 


YOU WILL SELECT ONE PLAYER PER TOURNAMENT

YOU MAY USE ANY PLAYER, REGARDLESS OF REGULAR SEASON

If you select a player that misses the cut at the Barclays you will automatically receive a +5 score.  It does not matter what the lowest finishing score is.  Same goes for a WD obviously.


Each playoff contestant will be responsible for sending me their pick via private message.  The reason for this is that way there can be no unfair advantage for the lower seed just picking the same player and moving on to the next round.

Since it is looking like I will be making the playoffs...I WILL NEED A VOLUNTEER OR TWO to receive my pick.  You will be responsible for posting the pick in the weekly thread on Thursday.  Please don't volunteer if you cannot accomplish this.

I will post a weekly thread for each tournament with the matchups and each players picks on THURSDAY.  Please do not post your plays in this thread...it must be by PRIVATE MESSAGE.

We will use the +5 system for The Barclays and the Deutsche Bank Championships.  The BMW Championships and Tour Championships will be head to head since there is no cut.

16 guys make the playoffs

It's 1 vs 16...2 vs 15...3 vs 14 and so on

The #1 position starts the Barclays with a +1 and the 16 starts with +16

You will message me your plays so that the lower seed can't just pick the same player and move on.

If your selected player misses the cut or WD's in the Barclays or Deutsche Bank you will receive a +5

We are following the basic 16 team bracket format

You may select any player...all regular season selected players are reset

So each tournament is a head to head match against the person you are playing.  

 4 tournaments only for the people going to the finals.   You are eliminated if you lose the head to head?

 

Also,  I tied making a friend request to you,  half way thru the year.  Is it a matter of you accepting it,  or did I request wrong.

hey, I understand and agree with everything but have one question...

If you pick a player that MC or WD...you will get the lowest finishing score of the week.  Not +5 from there as we have been doing.

If you are not already able to PM me...send a request and I will obvioulsy approve

For prizes I have a few things from my personal collection that I might be willing to donate...if anyone else has something they would like to give out...mention it here and we might be able to add it.

I have a TaylorMade RBZ 4-iron stiff shaft that I don't use...I would be glad to throw that in the ring.

A sleeve of Pro V1 would be cool. Not sure who's donating or how to collect or chip in though. What if you and the person you're playing pick the same golfer?

That's how I figured getting the higher seed in the regular season gives you the advantage.  If we all agree to it...I would be willing to send a message back to the lower seed letting them know to pick another golfer...but it could be tough since a lot of players pick late

FYI   maybe have a lower seed pick deadline of Tuesday AM  and a higher seed pick deadline off Tuesday PM   ???  Just a thought.

Simple solution. Pick 2 golfers. Lower seed gets a 2 stroke lead to start 1-4 seeds v 13-16 seeds, 1 stroke lead to start 5-8 seeds v 9-12 seeds. Can't pick same golfer twice in playoffs tracked by you and every round after the first, the lower seed only gets a 1 stroke lead to start with reseeding after every tournament.

Seems like way too much work for me.  Sorry.

Why are we only choosing 1 golfer ? We have been choosing 2 all season ? It's very probable we can choose the same golfer with only choosing 1 player
