So since we are well beyond half way through the season...I figured it's about time to start to talk about the playoffs for this season.
Last season...we had the top 16 competitors make the playoffs and receive a starting score relevant to their regular season score (1st place had a +1....16th place had a +16).
This year I'm going to sweeten the pot a little bit.
We are going to stick with that format for the first two rounds of the playoffs (The Barclays and Deutsche Bank Championships). 1st place for the regular season gets a +1 and every place beyond that gets a score relative to their finishing position. Here's the difference...
EVERYBODY that makes the top 16 in the regular season will get to participate in the first two rounds of the playoffs.
Based on your starting score heading in and your cumulative score from the first two FedEx Cup events we will then take the top 4 finishers to compete in the BMW Championship and the Tour Championship.
In the event of a tie the first tiebreaker will be regular season missed weeks...second tie breaker will be winning pick selections...third tie breaker will be score in the Deutsche Bank.
I went with this decision because it gives a little bit better of a chance and makes a missed cut at the Barclays and DB Champs a little more of a penalty!!
