I have no money on Dustin...don't care if he wins or loses this tournament...but that ruling that he gets to move his ball from his terrible lie into the first cut was a joke. He didn't even get a better angle...and he still hit the ball directly over the tower that was supposedly blocking him. Horrible ruling. Guess the course officials felt bad about his short game, and wanted to give him a break...

line of sight for immovable object they said. I was kinda meh with it too. The big thing is this possible stroke penalty on 5. They need to just make a call and that be it or take his word for it. To play the rest of the tourney on a maybe, isn't fair to anyone.

final round of the US Open THE WORST officiating I have EVER seen in ANY sport!!! I guess WHAT can you expect from a bunch of OLD USGA "fuddy-duddy's" working with 19th century rules?

The ruling on relief (temp immovable object) was correct...........the other fiasco was a joke.
Just for fun...I'm going to argue this.
They claimed that the tower was in his way...and immovable. OK, fine. Except they moved him two club lengths away...to where the tower was...still in the way. And what did he do? Hit a shot right above the tower that was "in his way". His ball was in a terrible lie, deep in the rough...and there was no way he could hit it over the tower. So they let him move it to the left so he had a clean lie and could easily hit it over the tower? Why didn't they move it to the right so it was still in the terrible rough, but out of the way of the tower? And besides...it wasn't like the tower was in the middle of the fairway. He hit an awful shot and got a mulligan. If you were to pull that $h*t playing for 10 bucks a hole at your local public course, you'd have a fist fight on your hands.
Congrats to DJ though. Loved that he played great through that BS they tried to pull about his ball moving on the 5th.

I understand........we weekend players don't have to deal with TV towers & such so we never run across this, or rarely do. I've had to take down sponsor signs in a tourney but those, of course, were moveable obstructions. But the rule for relief exists, & sometimes it works for you, sometimes not. I've hit balls off of cart paths before because taking relief by the rules would have fukked me. If his nearest point of relief for line of sight put him where it did, then hooray for him.
