re: the Pittsburgh weather from https://weather.com/weather/5day/l/Pittsburgh+PA+USPA1290:1:US
Thursday 80% chance of thunderstorms. Friday 50% chance of morning
showers. Saturday and Sunday sunny with NO precipitation and light
winds
as vegasslim pointed out in another thread that should make the usually "concrete" Oakmont greens more playable however AJLightning stated should make the usual nasty USGA rough even more impossible to get out of so maybe a "frish" 1st and 2nd round ??? I think the more playable greens will lead to 1st round UNDERS as long as it is NOT poring down rain during play

Pure HE.LL is the truth! And if they get any rain, that rough will be a sticky health hazard!
AJLIghtning I got to play Oakmont a few times when I was flying as a corporate pilot in Pittsburgh back in the late 1970's and I can honestly say I do NOT know HOW the membership can really enjoy playing that course. it is the damnedest "gimmick golf" course I have ever played. the Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, PA just east of Pittsburgh a MUCH better "test of golf" in my opinion BUT the membership, which is 100 of the richest people in Western PA, is smart enough to NOT let the USGA get NEAR their course. VERY exclusive it is the "Augusta National of the North"
