Just a general question for you golfing bettors as I am quite interested in the potential golf betting offers, plus this forum seems more helpful than others on Covers!
What are the most important factors when handicapping golf?
Is it recent form i.e tournaments contested with strength of competition and prize money on offer, previous form at a course, injury/break from tournament play, certain course layouts likely to suit a player's game style, playing under certain conditions such as quick greens, inclement weather or wind, or recent improvements in GIR stats or putting numbers?
I always thought golf to be hard given the books can frame markets with large overrounds on a big field size (market percentages or vigorish - I'm Australian so not sure what term you guys use!) but have seen some good posts on here with long-priced picks and sound rationale. Obviously some of you do well. Personally I'd probably take 3 or 4 and target bet to win certain amounts.
I'm interested in anything you guys can offer.
Cheers,
BF

I'm sure there are others who have much more insight but my thoughts would be based upon recent form, whether a golfer has a positive history on any given course, whether the course suits a certain golfer over his peers, whether peers who have done well on a given course will be in attendance and finally, expected weather.

I use a combination of course history, recent performance, key stats for course and vegas odds. I tend to weight them diff each week. This allows me to handicap and compare against current odds. I then bet my top 4 value picks for top 10 or 20 wagers.
