Question

There is a huge void at the top of the golf world right now. TIger has not won a major in eons and Phil is prepping for the Senior tour. I am not saying these guys will not have a golden bear moment at some point in the future (winning the Masters at 46 or so) but they are not the players they once were.

We have seen that over the last 5 years or so with so many "first time Major winnners" No one is dominating so many are slipping through.

Will someone emerge for the shadows and be the next big thing. I have always thought it was Adam Scott and cut the guy some credit, he could still do it but the BIG THING has a BIG EGO to fill this role. I am not sure Rory or Adam fit this bill.

So, today, we welcome Jordan Spieth to the discussion. It is only one tournament but I will be watching closely today to see if he has it, whatever it is, you know it when you see it.

Bubba looked lost yesterday and from everything I read, he is a nice guy. I hope he finds his game today but I am betting he does not.

what 19 of the last 21 majors were won by different people? i think the trend continues the fields are very deep now

Agreed Slim but there will soon be the man again. It is human nature. Yes, the average golfer is better and the field&#x27;s are deeper but a great one will exert his will on the rest.I am riding Spieth, just decided.I looked back on all his Sunday&#x27;s over the last two year. He seems to hiccup more on Saturday than Sunday. WTF, worth a shot.

Phil is done IMO.  He can&#x27;t drive or putt anymore...so the rest of his game doesn&#x27;t matter.Speith is a possibility to take the throne of "young gun"...but we&#x27;ve seen too many of them come and go in the past dozen years or so.I know this game like the back of my hand, and from what I can tell, there isn&#x27;t any GREAT players any more.  There are simply much more very good players.  There are only 7 active and relevant players with 10 or more wins on the PGA Tour...and only 14 with 5 or more wins.  That just screams out mediocrity to me.10 out of the top 20 players in the world don&#x27;t have 5 wins.

To say the field is mediocre - I cannot argue with CM - I am sick of McIlroy already and the sluggish play for the supposed next phenom.  Adam Scott won a jacket okay, Woods may have another run - just when most since he is done.  Kuchar, Spieth, Day, all lead a cast of win a couple maybe a major or two guys, but Nothing like our generations big two - Phil and Woods.

Freddie and the other "old guys" generally only play well at Augusta where experience and course knowledge is above all else.

Phil overall I think is done as being a top 5/10 level player. I'm not saying he won't win another tournament, but I would not expect him to win very many.

Yes...the same can be said of Tiger Woods as well. His driving is terrible right now, and a 5-10 foot putt that was once a given is now a 70/30 shot at best. He also has lost his mental advantage over the rest of the field.

As far as young guns that have been anointed as "the future"....

The ANSWER to this is simple.....HUMAN NATURE  *rejected by many though ....as most of us really hate to admit our (many) weaknessesThe great / transcendent players separate themselves by not only their skill but by their work ethic..  *do you REALLY think a multi-millionaire young guy will work to improve as hard as he would as if he were BROKE?...why hell noAt the age of 18 Danny Lee became the youngest ever winner of the US Amateur....soon after he signs a deal with Callaway for a million dollars per year or so...not to pick on DL...but take away the million bucks....is his work ethic the same?...of course not  *#246 in 2014....made 112K in 2013....(he likely lost money)Top young golfers make a ton by finishing 10-15th or so each week...there really is no incentive to push themselves any further  *250K / year is not uncommon at all....logos on the hat or left side of shirt can pay 250K &gt; 2 mil...side of hat or collar can pay 200K or so  *Guys like Furyk or DL3 make 7-8 million / year from endorsements....Furyk&#x27;s 5 Hour Energy deal pays 1.5-2 mil or soRory&#x27;s Nike deal is (reportedly) around 10 years and 200 million or so......do you think this has ZERO effect on his game?....also forced him to switch clubs BTW...  *do you think he plays NOW with more of an emphasis on MONEY....or the simple love of the game?....keeping in mind the TREMENDOUS pressure that comes with these deals...how is this not at least a (minor) distraction to his game?  NOTE: at this level a minor distraction is hugeNOTE: last year Mike Trout made 510K or so....Russell Wilson about 500K also....last week Jordan Spieth made 972K and didn&#x27;t winThese guys all have too much money on the line to not be CORPORATE as hell.....so no real personalities really emerge  *great golfers sure....but the days of 4-5 guys dominating the tour are likely over...

yep as long as you have a great swing your problems are solved, only reason other then bad back Freddy still doesn&#x27;t win is the same as Ernie who by the way has a great swing also.  Neither can make putts for all 4 days, everyone on tour hit is great it is the guy each week that makes putts inside 10 that wins for the most part.  I don&#x27;t think either Phil or Tiger are close to done.  Seems like even though the talent level in young guys is off the charts the fact they all make so much money few have the desire to win every week.

&#xD;&#xA;Awesome ! And it is this exact thing that brought me over to here betting and why I am doing good at it. I am more or less accounting for this, and everyone wants to win at least once ! I cover all the best players every week at the time without a win. &#xD;&#xA;10 bucks per on 80 - 1 thru 1000 -1  Tommy G was my best pick.. But guys like rees, streelman, etc. are great plays until they win. Then OK picks. Loved Stadler... Some of these very same guys want a Major too.
