US is favored and should be, all of their players have played Muirfield more times than the europeans. See much more advantages on the US side.
That said, more emphasis should be given to the US in foursomes and fourball. US definitively plays more together than the europeans, but gradually that is changing in the past few years. In any case, team play favors the US. Singles matches will probably go in favor of the europeans, since that is more of their style of play most of the time.
In golf, momentum usually is a deciding factor. Either playing well or bad, tends to show up and make a difference. All these guys are great golfers, so look for these turns.
As for the players individually, there are some guys that are hot. Jordan Spieth and Jason Day I'd put in this group. Guys that could be cold are Louis O and Zack J (not playing much, health problems).
For the first matches, taking these groups.
Michelson/Bradley
Day/DeLaet
Stricker/Spieth

First day observations.. the rain delay helped the euros, no doubt. Trailing in all matches, nice regroup after the rain. Phil and Keegan are go for broke players, think it hurt them today, especially in the last few holes. They won't change, but they should. Els and Louis O are the weak links in the euro team, going to fade them. The rest of the euros played pretty well, pay attention to Day, think he is the anchor of their team.
On the US side, they all seem to be doing ok. Tiger will dominate I think, no mistakes today. Good move to put stricker with spieth, spieth with all that talent needs a little guidance. Phil actually wasn't good, and keegan isn't that good of a putter. Wish they toned it down a notch, playing a bit too hyped up.
Any other observations?

All the others, kinda middle of the road. Going to base singles play based on above, see if there are any glaring advantages. With the way things are going, probably not going to be a run away for the US, but think they will still have a bit of an advantage in putting.

Yo Kerry - I agree....but I would throw Schwartzel in the playing well category...guy is tearing it up and either draining putts from anywhere or coming damn close
Probably going to take him in the singles vs pretty much anyone

Haven't watched this morning yet, was out shooting a respectable 78.
Anyhow, with all this rain, another long day, has to favor the younger players and good putters. Older guys look to be slowing down. Going to fade them in the afternoon matches.

with the US killing them, think the only plays would be to take the intl players that are playing well, think they will be only playing for pride. matsui is probably the only intl player i'll take. should be a killing.
